There were so many opportunities for us to get creative with where he lined up and Gruden failed spectacularly. When he did try to mix him in at other spots, his play calls were so "vanilla" they could see the play coming a mile away. I hope Bevell does a better job than Gruden did, although I'm expecting a ton of bubble screens. Bevell used them a lot during his time in Seattle and they rarely worked. I googled Rice's Pro Day 40 time and it comes up he ran a 4.71/40. That's what comes up. He certainly wasn't fast, but he did look quicker than that during his heyday. Amen! That is why I was so surprised we only brought in one O-Lineman in the draft and no UDFA O-Linemen. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! They also brought in Austen Pleasants for OL, who is a first year player.

He spent time on our practice squad last year, so he's more of a hold over. He's absolutely running high 4.4s, or low 4.5s for sure.

His speed was one of the major knocks on him, going into the Combine. If he ran that fast, with his combination of size and strength, he would have gone much higher than round 5. (05-16-2021, 04:19 AM)TheO-LineMatters Wrote: I hope he is right about Johnson. The biggest hurdle he has is the lack of speed. He never ran the 40 at the Combine due to injury and then his Pro Day got cancelled, so his speed is unknown, but he certainly wasn't a "burner" in college. He was more of the possession receiver type. He used his size, physicality and excellent body control to make plays. I think he has a bright future in that role, but I've been a big Chark fan since he was at LSU. He has size, speed and big play making ability. If he can shake off some nagging injuries that have made him miss a few games, I believe he will quickly become Lawrence's favorite target. Ernest Wilford ran a 4.81 -- I see Johnson as a slightly faster Wilford who should benefit from having TL throwing him the ball so hopefully he can take advantage of his length.

Injuries are what knocked him down the draft board. Here's this to try and get some what of a picture on Johnson's speed. Keep in mind, Dorsett ran 4.33 at the combine. Godwin ran 4.55. Griffin ran 4.38 and Johnson ran 4.4 at his Pro Day. https://twitter.com/Demetrius82/status/1...62/photo/1

All I found was this https://draftscout.com/dsprofile.php?Pla...tYear=2020 https://www.playerprofiler.com/nfl/collin-johnson/ I highly doubt he is able run below 4.5 I am a fan, not a cheerleader. But considering we don't have an "official" timed speed for Collin (like we do for the other guys on that list), you gotta go with the info you do have. Everybody on that list can move and he's running with them. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
I like Colin Johnson well enough. I even think he's got a high ceiling and a bright future if he plays his cards right.
I don't think he'll overtake Chark on the depth chart any time soon -- and I definitely have read enough of Jimmy Smith's takes on twitter and elsewhere to know that he needs to be taken with a grain of salt, if not a bucket of it at times. No take is as bad as Favre saying we should take a WR over Trevor with the first pick in the draft, lol.
