Will this finally be the year the Jags have a ROY
|
It all started back in 1998 when Fred Taylor burst on the scene racking up 17 TD’s which at the time was a rookie record...well it was a tied rookie record...Randy Moss also scored 17 TDs the same year for Minnesota. Moss had a 1313 yard season with 17 TDs. Taylor scored 14 on the ground and 3 receiving, however Taylor had more total yards (1644). Taylor rushed for 1223 and had 421 in receiving yards.
Moss took home the hardware. *Note: Taylor also didn’t make the Pro Bowl in ‘98 Then we jump forward to 2006, the year the Jags drafted Lewis in round 1 and MJD in round 2. That same year, Vince Young was drafted by the Titans. Young ended the season with 2199 yards passing with just 12 TDs to 13 ints. MJD had 13 rushing TDs and 2 receiving TDs to give him a total of 15. He also added 940 yards rushing. He also broke a rookie with 303 all purpose yards vs Indy in which he returned a kickoff for a TD. MJD ended his rookie campaign with 1377 yards from scrimmage and 860 yards on kickoff return. Vince Young took home the hardware. Now let’s fast forward to 2019. The year the Jaguars drafted Gardner Minshew in the 6th round. The same year the Jags signed Nick Foles to an $88 million dollar deal. Week 1 at Kansas City, Foles exits the game with an injury and Minshew gets right to work. He started his NFL career connecting on 13 pass attempts in a row. Minshew ended his rookie season with 3271 yards passing, 21 TDs, 6 ints. Ex head coach Marrone pulled Minshew from the lineup to insert Foles, only to have it back fire. Minshew finished with 6 wins and 6 losses but had 3 game winning drives. Kyler Murray finished the year with 3722 yards passing, 20 TDs, 12 ints. Murray won just 5 games and had only 2 game winning drives. Murray took home the hardware. James Robinson vs Justin Herbert. Robinson rushes for 1070 in just 13 games, while scoring 10 TDs in his rookie campaign. Not bad for an undrafted player. Unfortunately he missed 3 games and the Jags mustard just 1 win. Justin Herbert threw for 4336 yards and 31 TDs for the LA Chargers. Herbert took home the hardware. As everyone knows, the Jags finally got the first pick overall for the first time in franchise history. Will this also be the first season we get a rookie of the year player? Taylor, Jones-Drew, Minshew, and Robinson were all in the discussion, here’s to hoping Lawrence can make it happen. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
If Lawrence is not in consideration for ROY barring injury, we made the wrong pick. He is a high profile guy playing the most high profile position. Lets hope so!

I don't care one way or the other about individual awards. I just wanna see improvement from the beginning of the season to the end.
Nope.

Here’s a guy that send a 4th overall pick packing, in Leonard Fournette. All James Robinson was come in as an I drafted rookie and rushed for 1070 yards and put up 344 yards receiving, all while scoring 10 TDs in his rookie year. Oh by the way he only played in 14 games. Did I mention he is still only 22 years old. The Jags only won 1 game up in Indy. That same year Justin Herbert of the LA Chargers came out of nowhere and put up a rookie season for the ages at the QB position. Herbert threw for 4336 yards with 31 TDs. Herbert took home the hardware.

I don't know what the odds are now, but when they were first introduced Najee Harris was by far my favorite bet at +1500 (they're probably quite a bit lower now since I saw a lot of people saying it was crazy odds). Tlaw will be a top contender obviously, Etienne isn't going to get enough work. I would go Najee though they're going to wear him out and he will get an unjust boost by being on the Steelers.

He'll probably top 30, but Najee is going to have something like 1600 total yards and double digit TDs. It'll be close. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

I was just about to say this. Look at what Kyler Murray did in 2019, he threw 20 TDs with 12 ints. 3722 yards and won 5 games. If Lawrence puts up 3500 25 12 then he’s in a good spot.

As much as I like Harris , I don't think their oline is good enough for him to put up those numbers I think you will be surprised with the amount of snaps Etienne will get
