I too think Urbs is a human piece of excrement.
That said, he's the coach. Hope we win! ![]() (07-06-2021, 09:43 AM)TrivialPursuit Wrote:(07-06-2021, 09:26 AM)MarleyJag Wrote: I'm neither. In no way do I care about this fin, at all. When we lose something above a 7th round draft pick, sure.
The draft aide, I'd rather he make mistakes nTo the extent $100,000 and $200,00 fins can be considered "no big deal," I think this qualifies.
Yes, he should adhere to the CBA, since it is one of the governing documents of the league. But he's brand new to the NFL game early in his NFL: career, he's trying to establish a competitive environment, and he's far from the only NFL coach dinged for this. It happens every year. It's not as if he were a long time NFL guy who has already worn out his welcome, driven away several talented players, etc. Player procurement aside, I'd rather he make "minor" mistakes now than during the season. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

I know he had more than his share of players who got in trouble off the field, including Aaron freaking Hernandez. But I remember reading something a few months back where he got something of a revelation from talking to Belichick. Belichick advised him to write down all of the characteristics he wanted in a player. UM supposedly stated he just went after the fastest guys before then. Looking at this year's draft, he placed an emphasis n guys he seemed to know, and he seemed to speak highly of everyone's character. I also seem to recall there was some instance where he stuck up for an assistant who got in some hot water over a domestic dispute or something. Were there other infractions I have forgotten? Did UM himself ever get arrested? Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

His association with skeezy people leads to the skeeze sticking to himself. I wouldn't call failure to disclose pending legal charges for DV "sticking up for an assistant". And when the initial luster of the job wears off, he runs to the hills before the ugliness can be pinned on him. He may be fantastic at Xs and Os. He's either a miserable judge of character, or willing to dismiss that for the sake of winning. That's where he and I certainly differ. If he is so changed, his hire of Chris Doyle is quite a contradiction.

So what if it's the exact same behaviors he exhibited in both his previous stops, to think that he isn't a changed man now that he's in the NFL is just plain unreasonable. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

Wonder why they are calling Baalke too...? "Why'd you fire him" "Urban told me to... I mean he made me hire the guy in the first place...I don't know what you want from me... I'm a yes man that loves ACL injuries..." (07-14-2021, 05:00 PM)TrivialPursuit Wrote: https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/3181...on-lawsuit He technically hired the guy they are investigating. More trouble from scumbags. Shocking.
Urbs turned a blind eye to killers in Gainesville for wins. He covered up sexual assault issues and took them to Ohio. He quit with "heart issues" when he ran out of talent in Hogtown. You may be willing to win at all costs, I'm not. He's a total piece of [BLEEP]. ![]()

Urbz had no issue with bringing a guy facing allegations from 50 separate former players as the Director of the S&C team. And like Z. Smith, saw no reason why bringing a guy in with recent checkered past might be a bad idea. Baalke didn't fire him, he probably just sat their and nodded his head when Urbz told him he was our man. If both were involved in the hiring process, though, they may have statements from Doyle about his past, financial details, etc that could be used in the civil action. ....remember when it was the players getting into legal trouble during the dead zone? Ah, the good ol' days. At least then, it was just something dumb like throwing a sandwich into a pond, calling other QBs trash, things like that. |
