Shot out to Mickey Washington for scoring the first ever pick 6 in Jags history. I agree. Who was it that got hurt just before the playoffs in 1996, in which Aaron Beasley stepped up and took the starting job? Wasn’t that Washington or was is Clark? Both beat the Steelers on the road for their signature playoff win and lost to New England; the 16-0 2007 Patriots were better than the 2017 Patriots imho, considering Bortles lackluster play in the wildcard game against the Bills in 2017 I don't think we can really say that Bortles had the better playoff run. Garrard came up clutch against the Steelers and then was straight up MAGIC against the Patriots and his receivers let him down Arguing about Garrard or Bortles really says it all, the Jaguars have never had a true franchise QB. Not even Brunell. Throughout the team's history whenever the Jaguars needed the QB to step up and take the team on his shoulders it was a crap shoot as to what you'd get from drive to drive and even play to play. Hopefully that's about to stop with Trevor. People think Brunell was one because they remember a handful of plays in the '96 playoffs, but they ignore how he constantly [BLEEP] the bed against the titans. If Trevor is a true franchise or elite QB he'll be the first one this team has really had.

Brunell doesn't deserve to be in the pride, he just wasn't elite.
Just because your the best QB we've had, you're still a mediocre QB...20 TDS! ![]() (07-13-2021, 03:00 AM)JagFanatic24 Wrote:Unsure who got hurt. Speaking of Thomas, he had to be the most miscast player in team history. Given his build and length and hard hitting, he would have made a really good SS, but he always wanted to play CB. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

Broke his leg on a kickoff against the Bengals in Cincy. It was really cold that game. You could actually hear the snap on TV. It was actually his femur, the big bone in his thigh. I can't imagine how hard he must've been hit to break that big bone. ![]()

I remembered it was a broken leg on a kickoff. I just thout it was Washingty but wasn't sure bit it was Concy. It wasn't in ,11996 though. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
Julius Thomas had 2 decent years with the Jaguars, but he was one of the worst free agent pick-ups ever for the team. They paid him a ton of money based on his great success with the Broncos and Manning. Another player not mentioned (with good reason) who falls into the same category is Bryce Paup. He had incredible sack numbers prior to joining the Jaguars and even won defensive player of the year after recording 17 sacks. Unfortunately, the Jaguars mis-used him by having him drop back to cover receivers. He was also paid a lot of money (2nd highest after Seau for linebackers) but was gone after 2 seasons like Thomas.

BTW there is not one FS I really miss. Imo Grant was the best but nothing special. Nelson had potential and he did become a pro bowler, but of course, our coaching staff had no clue on how to use the guy. I am a fan, not a cheerleader.

He was a good QB all around, but he was great at the beginning... he was never elite. IIRC, he got owned in those 2 AFC Title Games.. badly. He was awful.

Glad I'm not alone in that...
Take a LOT of flack about it. For FS I'd go with Church I think....Liked Landry. They should have just let Reggie Nelson do what he was best at...."Go get the ball boy!" ![]() We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

If the talent level had stayed low, say they end up with someone other than Fred Taylor and Jimmy Smith he would probably be remembered as a guy that was exciting running around but never won games. Think about it, he had a hall of fame level running back and wide receiver and never threw more than 20 TDs in a season here. .
Brunell was ranked 26 on the all time passing yards list in 2006. Be honest, you didn’t know that did you ?
Taylor retired 17th all time Jimmy 12th all time Brunell was ranked as high as 26th Brunell was a great QB and he deserves to be in the Pride, I have no idea why I’m even discussing it.
I see someone is deleting my posts. I wrote something late last night and now it’s gone.

Thank you to whoever un-deleted my post.
To the guy that asked where Brunell ranks on the all time TD list. Where does Fred Taylor rank? |
