Monroe Traded

The real question here is BG health insurance all paid up to date?

Quote:I doubt they do. Why would they? He's a clear upgrade over anybody they have. They have their left tackle for the next 5-6 years.

They have to sign him first. As it stands they have him for 12 games.

In all likelihood, the Jags will be signing more free agents next year than they will be losing.  There was a pretty good chance that letting Monroe leave in free agency would not have garnered a compensatory pick, as the Jags would have net more free agents.

None of the 2009 draft class remains on the roster.

No they are not. They are on a better team's roster, in most cases starting:

Baltimore - Monroe

Britton - Bears, backup RT

Knighton - Broncos,

Cox -  Chargers

Heck, he was a Gene Smith player so who cares. Sayanara!

Does anyone find it wierd that the news is not listed on Jaguars.com? Not only the news of the trade but today is first day back to practice and no news since yesterday.

I think people will be shocked with the number of picks we will have once the compensatory picks are added.

I my math is correct we should have 12 after compensatory picks (knighton, and cox) and assuming 2 picks from Baltimore for Monroe.

Hopefully 10 of those are in the first 5 rounds.

It takes time to get ducks in a row.

I really want to see the exact picks we got. I hope it's not a 4 and 5. I'm hoping its 3 and 4.

Like I said earlier, I don't think you guys really understand how much better Bridgewater is going to make this team. I'm talking 6-10 wins better!

We can still get picks for cox and knighton? That would be great. What about Danthony smith?

At this point, we should dominate the draft next year. Draft Teddy, and then load around him and let's go to war.

Wow...

Monroe for a few third day picks?

Either he wasn't impressing the current regime or they're all in for Bridgewater...

Three of those guys were on the roster last year...when we finished 2-14.

All of the 2009 draft class between 2009 and last year, and failed to post a winning season in that time.  All failed to make All Pro and/or Pro Bowl.

None of them were that good.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

Friend is a Chargers fan and he hasn't been thrilled with Cox. Knighton has been solid for Denver. Britton is... Britton.

Monroe has to pass physical, then the trade will be confirmed and team sites will report the news. Team sites are always last to officially report these things (for legal reasons.)

As I said to SpeedyG (?)...

since 2009, none of those draft picks produced a winning record, an All Pro mention, or even a Pro Bowl nod even after so many opt out of the game.

Derek Cox was always injured.

Even Gene Smith was reluctant to retain Knighton four years into his career.

They weren't that good.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

Whoa... slow down sir lol. 6? Maybe. Depends what else they pick up in terms of OL (though Teddy is really good in a muddy pocket), DE, LB, TE and maybe CB.

Yeah man just being confident. I've seen what good QBs can do for a franchise. There is talent on the offense. Luck, RG3, and Russell took their teams to the playoffs and Tannehill won 8 games. I think 6 wins is reasonable if Teddy is the real deal (which I think he is).

If he is the real deal then he adds 7 or 8 wins to however many the Jaguars get this season. (likely 0 or 1)

Elite QBs tilt the field, so to speak. Luck was worth 9 more wins.
