Tim Tebow- Jags new TE (merged)

Remember, I’m the one who warned you well before the first game was played that he holds the ball too long, will disappear the first time he gets popped in the mouth and can’t throw timing routes in live game situations. He waits until receivers break free. Wait until he is lined up against first team NFL defenses. Tebow is awful. Fields is good as I predicted. Lawrence will be better. Lawrence played 3 series' and Fields played 7.

Agreed. There was blown coverage on that play and the TE didn't have anyone within 15 yards of him. ESPN was giving Fields props for that play, but I could've made that easy throw. It didn't even take any skill. Fields could've sat in the pocket and read a book. He had all day to throw. The entire defense read it as a run play.

Ohio Stat QB's have always floped in the NFL. (08-16-2021, 05:45 PM)Pendragon Wrote: Tebow is accomplishing what he is supposed to do. All of Twitter is talking about the Jaguars. This may say more than anything else in the entire post. As in, why would you do that to yourself? Let's hope Frangie is paying attention, sounds like if Teebs is waived he may have a career as a shock joke. Trevor played QB the last few years because by all measures, he appears to have the skills to do so. Despite his HS and college success, Tebow was always miscast as an NFL viable QB, and it became obvious when he hit the field. Denver saw it and every other team saw it, which is why he was out of the league for so long, never getting another chance to be a starter. Tebow not playing TE or any other more suitable position was his own fault. Plenty of people suggested switching positions over the years. He refused to switch positions. There was a former college QB, Logan Woodside, who knew his limitations and listened to advice and switched to TE in the NFL, and he is starting for Washington. Furthermore, Trevor Lawrence is actually a rookie! Tebow isn't. If you are going to go the results of one preseason game route, Ryan Leaf beat Peyton Manning head to head their rookie year. How did that work out? Furthermore, While he made some rookie mistakes, Trevor Lawrence actually performed decently. There was something to hang his hat on, from the poise he showed to the completions to Marvin Jones. In that game, there was some basis to defend him! What the [BLEEP] did Tebow do against Cleveland to justify any defense of him? We saw he couldn't competently execute a block. He didn't catch any passes. The coaches didn't even put him on special teams. So we couldn't tell if he could at least run down and cover a kick or hold for a FG. Trust me, this does not work for you or Tebow. It's uncanny for such a great college program that's the case. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

Not a single player we have ever drafted has been a rookie, I suppose, since they all have functional experience at the position we selected them to play. They are just 0-year veterans, right? Tebow is not a rookie. He has been on many a pro field in his day, the speed of the game is not a surprise to him. He's been there in the playoffs, so he's even tasted high-stakes games as a player. I think the word you are looking for is he is INEXPERIENCED at the position. We'd be saying the same thing if we had signed Bortles, Gabbert, or even TLaw to play TE. (08-17-2021, 08:59 AM)Mikey Wrote:On top of that, Tebow had at least NINE (9) years from the end of his time with the Jets to hone his craft and develop his skills if he had any thought to switching positions in a comeback attempt. Either he didn't bother to try until now, or he did try and couldn't develop his skills sufficiently over that period to look competent at the position.(08-16-2021, 10:32 PM)Pendragon Wrote: Trevor was playing QB last year, and the year before, and the year before. Tebow was NOT playing tight end last year, nor the year before, nor the year before. He is a rookie tight end. I trotted out the rookie card when you trotted it out to justify Trevor. I could have just pointed out that Justin Fields is also a rookie and blew Lawrence away... Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
Tebow's been cut. Turn out the lights, the party's over.

I thought that's what I just heard. If so, finally this whole thing is over. Apparently between his position coaches, UM and Baalke, nobody thought there was enough substance to Tebow's game to justify any more time trying to develop him. I wish him luck in his future endeavors, but he shouldn't have been here in the first place. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

They could have kept Josh Oliver, who looks 100x better than anyone on our roster. They could have drafted an actual, viable TE. They could have traded for Ertz. There's literally a hundred better things they could have done. So YES harm done.
