Every coach and front office in the league factored vaccination status into their decision making on bubble players. Meyer just said it out loud.

It’s just very basic risk mitigation.

That said, I don’t like all of his cuts, but I’ll see what shakes out before tripping.

"Anonymous", "unnamed", "not made public"...yeah, convincing.

Coach Meyer is enduring The NFL Coaches' "Doe's n Dont's". He'll catch on.

Time Will Tell.

Also I know everyone’s quick to bash urban for saying these things, but personally I like how transparent he is, it’s better than listening to 5/10 mins of coach talk every interview

....there's a reason why the other coaches aren't so transparent, though. They understand that nothing good comes from putting this out there. Not like all the vax'd FAs are going to be lining up at our door waiting to sign a discounted deal because Urbs admitted to what most of the coaches may be doing anyhow.

And yeah, saying it "was a factor" means that zilch will come of this, except maybe a memo to the coach from the league office about being mindful of his wording when addressing matters. Had he said we cut guys who would have made the team if only they got stuck, well, that's a different story.

This seems like "much ado about nothing". Everyone knows this is part of the consideration that's being made league wide. Meyer probably should learn to be a bit more coy when he's meeting with the press.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

So if a player is 100% healthy but isn't vaccinated, they should be cut for "health" reasons? Yeah, ok, lol.

No - but if a similarly talented roster bubble player is vaxed - then it is a very easy decision of basic risk mitigation to your team.

One player poses less threat to expose your team to league protocols, restrictions and forfeiture. The unvaxed guy represents greater risk in those areas.

You should not get cut because you refuse to take an experimental vaccine. We will not know the effects of the vaccine until years from now. It is impossible to call it safe at this time.

Let's get on topic, please.

Vaccine efficacy can be discussed in the COVID thread in the political forum, or in the non-political COVID thread in Fargin's Flyby forum.

We needn't muddy this thread with debate over vaccine efficacy and approval opinions.

This is reason enough to have it as a major factor.

We'll see how the vaxxed hold up through this flu season. Should be fun.

I wouldn't bet any money on sports this fall.

Efficacy and approval opinions aside, those can be debated in the forums mentioned above - players don't typically know what's in the shots that they get, nor do they care.  These are people that know they are at risk of traumatic brain injury, broken bones, torn ligaments etc. every time they take the field.  By and large, they are willing to do whatever it takes in order to be able to play and in order to help the team...

It can't be a surprise, considering the NFL rules regarding potential forfeits and unpaid games that vaccine status is going to be a factor in deciding who gets cut, especially if there are 2 players that are close in talent, salary and measurables.

What happens to vaccinated players that get COVID and spread it?

Are they going to be quarantined? Are they just going to allow them around the others?

That will be swept under the rug.
