Wow! Thank God we have Trevor Lawrence. I watched a ton of college football today and I witnessed several of the top 2022 QB prospects in action. I was not impressed. I saw Spencer Rattler of Oklahoma, Sam Howell of North Carolina, Carson Strong of Nevada and J.T. Daniels of Georgia. All of them underwhelmed......... tremendously. The only one that I watched today who looked like they belong in the first round of the draft was Desmond Ridder of U.C. Granted, he was playing my alma mater (Miami OH) and we suck, but he just looked like he knew what he was doing out there and did a beautiful job leading the offense. It wouldn't surprise me at all, if he was a top 5 pick in 2022. If anyone has any doubts about just how good Trevor Lawrence is, just watch a replay of today's Georgia/Clemson game. Without Lawrence, the Clemson offense is a mess! They only scored 3 points and I believe the Tigers' QB was sacked 7 or 8 times. It was like a Chinese fire drill. Dabo Swinney is gonna wish he retired once Trevor went to the NFL.

Unfortunately, I also watched some of the top rated OT prospects and good Lord, they were awful. That is for another thread though......

Very true. Their top O-Lineman drafted last year with Trevor was OT Jackson Carman and he couldn't even crack the starting lineup of the Cincinnati Bengals as an OG, despite the fact that they were desperate for O-Linemen.

TL16 is now the face of our franchise to which makes our future extremely bright. We still have work to do over the next couple of years w/respect to the roster and field of play, BUT I'm confident that success is within our grasp(s).

Granted, it's early in the season and all these guys can bounce back, but this epitomizes in part why franchise QBs are so hard to find.  Coming into this season, I felt the top guys did not compare with the guys in this year's draft class.  So far that seems to be the case.

Losing sucks, but I am glad we lost big when we did because we wound up with Trevor Lawrence.  Unless they can convince Watson to stay and he is cleared of all the legal stuff, Houston will be bad for a while because great QBs are so rare and their roster is so bad.  Unfortunately for Culley, I could see him being a one and done coach, with maybe Lovie Smith taking over.

Agree with your assessments on these guys, although I did not see the Nevada QB. I did see the QB play in PSU vs Wisc and unimpressed. Bryce Young did well vs Miami but it's Alabama the masters of reloading. D'Eric King was overmatched the whole game. closer to home, Emory Jones was quite disappointing. for Fla and his backup, Anthony Richardson, looked better than he did but lack of practice time? with the WRs showed on his long passes but he sure looks to have potential. Brad Johnson's son, the LSU QB looks to have some potential but needs to percolate some more. Fortunately for him and Richardson they have time to improve. But all in all, the vast majority of college QBs are doing their best work with their legs.

Spencer Rattler of Oklahoma is supposed to be the top guy right now and many people are projecting him as the #1 overall selection. I just don't see it.

Judging by Saturday, you might be right. I'm not very high on Miami though. They lost all their best pass rushers last season, so he had all day to sit in the pocket. I wanna see what he can do against a really good defense like Georgia.

Rattler does have some pretty great arm talent but obviously there is way more to the QB position than just arm talent.

Other than the upside differences, Minshew lead us like this last year. This team lacks talent and they blew the off season. Bad free agency and bad drafting.

Everything is compounded by them doing little with the Rams extra picks. Glad we ditched Caldwell but yikes looks like more of the same. I am withholding despair but this is the oline that Meyer liked.

Kahn isn't a good owner. At any point in the past three years, he could have got a GM that could have built a workable line. Yuck
