EKUALE

#1

I'm confused. You keep Daniel Ekuale on your original 53-man roster, but you cut Doug Costin.  You then waive Ekuale to make room for Tyron Johnson.  No problem.  You put Costin on your practice squad, but not Ekuale?  There is still room for one more player on PS.  Or you could have cut Costin off PS and replace him with Ekuale He just signed with the Pats.  So did the coaches actually like Costin better than Ekuale, but cut him instead of Ekuale?  Where's the logic?  And please no comments about 5th string DT or PS BS.  Just want to know if anyone has a logical take on why the front office would do this.

Maybe Ekuale wanted an opportunity somewhere else like Camp did.

does it matter, Costin is on the PS where they wanted him and Ekuale is on a different team now they didn't cut him and sign to PS cause they were planning on Cutting him once they picked up a FA. otherwise they would of had to cut someone else and move him anways. so they just planned ahead. if Costin got scopped up i am sure they would of tried to move him to the PS instead.

Practice Squad players are free agents.

Sort of. If they are plucked from the practice squad they msut be added to the active roster. You can't move thgem from another team's practice squad to your practice squad.

Players who are subject to Waivers and clear are free agents, players who are not subject to waivers are free agents. The player in this thread did not have to join our Practice Squad, which should clear up the OP's confusion.

Perhaps I should've said that PS players are signed to the PS from free agency and the team has no prior claim to them even if they were on the roster previously.

That's the only thing that makes sense.  Do we know that Ekuale didn't want to sign with the Jags?

No, but clearly one side or the other didn't want him here.

But, there in lies the confusion.  If they didn't want Ekuale here, then why did they keep him on the original 53 instead of Costin?  The only thing that makes sense is that Ekuale wanted out and didn't want to sign to the Jags PS.

Let him go. He’s an undersized interior player. He played well against other teams’ scrubs, but chances are he’s not going to he an all-pro.

So it's not a mystery then.

I have a feeling there will almost always be Some mystery behind the moves this staff makes to some folks.

Maybe it is easier to clear Costin through wavers if it is part of the huge flood of payers. Or maybe Ekuale just wanted a change of scenery.

Yes, that does not make sense.   Baalke went to Bemidji State University where the average SAT is 1100 and the admittance rate is 65% so perhaps he struggles with logical reasoning.

I don't think Camp did, but some blue checkmark said Camp's ahem...camp...told him he liked his odds of cracking the game day roster on the Texans than Jags. Which seems pretty reasonable to me they probably have the worst WR corps after the Lions.
