Money can't buy everything. Some people, like myself are not motivated by money. If I were a free agent and New York offered me $100 million and some smaller market team offered me $20 million, I'd take the lower offer. I'd rather die than live in New York and I could live very well on $20 million, even though it is a lot less. Some players are the same way. Many are motivated by playing for a winner and as poorly as this team is run, we probably aren't going to the playoffs anytime soon.

It's easy to say you'd turn down 80 million dollars when the offer is never going to happen. God's honest truth, I don't see much difference between $20 million and $100 million. Both amounts are more than I could spend in a lifetime. I'm a simple guy. I have simple taste. I have no use for fancy things. I have no desire to own a mansion or a fancy sports car. I just want enough money to go on fishing and hunting trips, a nice 4 wheel drive pickup, a nice ranch style home on wooded acreage (which I have now) and a custom built fishing lake/pond. I could buy all that and still have plenty left over to take care of my family and give some to charity with the $20 million. That way I wouldn't have to live in a giant city where I don't wanna be, doing things like fighting traffic, seeing nothing but concrete and skyscrapers and being around people 24/7. That is my nightmare.
Wish we could get him, he is better than all our LB combined lol and that's not saying much. He is still young.
I am a fan, not a cheerleader.

Even if those two New York teams actually played in New York, which they don't, for an extra $80 million you could live in Connecticut and commute to New York on a helicopter.

If you've ever been around people who were born and raised in rural areas like myself, many of us are of a different mindset. We live in sparsely populated areas for a reason. I like peace, quite and privacy. You can't buy that kind of happiness. Besides, I don't see that much of a difference between $100 million and $20 million. Both amounts are more money than I could ever spend. I don't want or need fancy things. They just draw unwanted attention. If I'm not gonna spend it, it'll just sit in the bank and what good is that? I'd rather have less money and be happy, than a ton of money I won't use and be miserable. As far as a helicopter commute, no way! I am deathly afraid of heights and just look what happened to Kobe Bryant. You couldn't pay me enough to get into a helicopter once, much less use one for a daily commute and I'm not driving a car in all of that traffic. No way. I'd lose my mind. Here are two really good free agents out there at positions of real need (Smith and Gilmore) and we are currently the laughing stock of the league, because of the antics of our head coach. Neither guy is gonna come here and be part of this chaos. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Jags should at least try to get smith, and Gillmore. By trying it shows you want to win. If you don't even make an attempt it shows how happy you are loseing all the time. You want to lose.
By at least trying to get them it proves the Jags really want to win. no attempt just shows the team loves loseing. snowwolf titans owner in madden. note titans owner means im undeafted againest them. I know you don't have kids but don't you have nieces and nephews? You could set some of that money aside for their colleges and their kids colleges and their kids kids colleges. You could use that 80 million and actually do some good things with it.

Yes and I could do that with $20 million just as well and still enjoy life. I'm certainly not gonna leave them a ton of money, so they can be spoiled, rich heirs. I want them to make their own way in the world and learn responsibility and hard work.
He can't be worse than any LB we currently have, even with injury history .

Certainly better than what we have. He was all over the place. Are there better linebackers in the NFL? Most certainly, but he would be an upgrade for us. Our linebacking unit has been awful. I wouldn't hate bringing him in to see if he can reclaim some of that 2017/18 play, but he's really not much of an upgrade on what we have, and even if he is, that's more of an indictment on our guys. There's a reason Dallas brought in 3 new LBers this offseason and released him despite not saving any money off this year's cap. |
