Wingard Ranked 9th rated safety in the NFL according to PFF

The Guy gets a ton of flack. I admit I dished out some but he has really stepped his game up. He is our highest rated player on defense and by far our most consistent. Props

Can't really mess up when they put you so far deep at FS that it's almost impossible to screw up.
Lets see Cisco already.
Miracles happen. I think we need to see him play well for a few more games before getting too excited. No missed tackles. No stupid penalties. No unexcused blown coverage.

Being the best defensive player on an 0-4 team with the 30th ranked defense is roughly the equivalent of being the best opera singer in Topeka, Kansas

But looking at different outlets, I was surprised to see how many Cowboy fans happy to see him go. I thought he was a hell of a player, maybe I haven't been watching close enough.

I don't put much stock in PFF. There are 150 plays per game, times 22 players on the field, times 16 games. So they are going to grade 52,800 individual plays per week, without knowing what play was called and what the players' assignments were.

The hell, folks.
How many years have we spent complaining that we either get no recognition, or face uphill battles to overcome media bias? Finally get word that one of our guys is performing in the top 10 of his position group and the responses are excuses and a call for his replacement hesitancy to accept the ranking dismissal based on team performance dismissal of the ranking Is it that bad that we have a guy showing that development might actually work? Or that we have TWO feasible options at a position? Good gravy.
Hes fine if hes not being targeted, which is currently the case with Herndon and Campbell being targeted
They mitigate his lack of coverage skill by playing him so far off the LOS he could never stop a conversion.
If Cullen didn't interchange safeties so much and they just played Wingard in the box, he'd be "decent" most of the time probably. Unfortunately he's a liability in coverage and they have to account for that by backing him way up on snaps requiring him to cover. It's like the rest of the secondary is playing the coverage called, but Wingard is playing "prevent" by himself. That's a problem. We show less advertisements to registered users. The above post illustrates the point I was making about PFF. No one knows whether he's playing his assignment or not. And if not, why not. And it's the same for the 52,000 other plays per week around the NFL that PFF is supposedly expertly analyzing.
PFF is a joke man. It's a way to sell BS to unknowing fans who want to think they know what's going on and need a reference to prop up players they like when PFF happens to give em a green rating.
If you think Wingard is the 9th best safety in the league.... Yikes

Marty makes a very valid point, there’s no way PFF can keep up with every player on every play. But, but, it was on the internet with football in the title. Its possible but it depends on how many people they have working for them (10-08-2021, 10:22 AM)Kane Wrote: PFF is a joke man. He definitely isn't the 9th best safety in the league but he is much better than the last few years by a large margin. He's had a few missed tackles but has also made some nice ones by the line if scrimmage. He's made some nice plays out there and hasn't been a liability out there even when he hasn't dropped back deep
We should send the PFF writeup to all 31 GMs and trade him for a 2nd round draft pick. Who doesn't want a safety rated higher than Budda Baker.
