Would dressing up as a BBC count as blackface?

I don’t think so.  I’d like to think that even if there was a circular cutout for ones face, it could just be a dribble of baby batter.

Not to get off topic of big black Richards, but when I had my roof redone earlier this year, the company had a can delivered (obviously).  It was a black can.  Their website was getBBC.(blah blah blah).  Not that you can’t figure it out, but I’m not wanting a ban for trying to advertise.  Trust me, we had our jokes about me having a BBC parked in the drive.

Sounds like hard work. Shoulda gotcha a nice cold BBC afterwards.

There are some fantastic recordings on YouTube of actual slaves. If you get a few seconds and want to go down a rabbit hole, you should give them a listen. Like most things, it's not black and white. Some slaves thought their masters were cruel and abusive, and others thought they were kind. One thing is certain to me, the man who recorded these slaves (in the 1930s), had an epiphany that he speaks about in the following video. An old black man tells him, "You still have the disease... you think you can give me my rights, but I was born with those. You can deprive me of them, but you can't give them to me." This is how I feel about the progressive position on race. They are still trying to give black people their rights instead of just acknowledging they have them.

The thing that most people don't realize regarding slavery is that slaves were basically treated like livestock.  In most cases they were treated "well" by their owners and taken care of.  Families and breeding was actually encouraged, though the result of breeding wasn't always "humane".  Young children were often sold off much like calves from a cattle herd.

It doesn't make it right, but slaves were not treated in the way that has been portrayed in many Hollywood films with the whipping and beating.  In many cases certain slaves were "beloved family members".  Many of the women served as "nannies" and many of the men served as "foreman" on homesteads and basically ran the operation.

Again, I'm not by any means saying that slavery was right.  All that I'm saying is that history has not exactly been taught correctly.  Slaves were never abused.

You were factual until this last sentence.  We have photos of the scars slaves received from the whip.  Yes white people sometimes got whipped too, but usually only if a judge or military officer ordered it.  Whipping was much more frequent for slaves than for anyone else. Any owner could do it any time and not be questioned.

Seen the movie many years ago.  I kind of forgot about it.  Did I subconsciously reference that movie or is my intellectual creativity 15-20 years behind?
