When you factor in the teams who beat us, are record is not so bad. This was suppose to be the easy part of the schedule but has not been. 3 out of our 5 losses are against great teams. The 5-2 titans, 5-2 bengals, 6-0, cardinals. All 3 of those teams have also smoked some of the best teams in the NFL. The truth is that they are just more talented than us right now. What is more telling is we were more competitive than most against the above mentioned teams.

We should be 3-3
Strength of schedule hindsight is fun and all, but it doesn't excuse poor coaching. This team was unprepared and poorly coached in weeks one and two. Yes three of the teams we lost to are better teams who are also looking good vs other competition. Doesn't excuse the crap-fest we saw the first two weeks.

You are what your record is and right now 1-5 says we're dog [BLEEP].

You are what your record says you are.
But this season was never about the playoffs. It was all about seeing Trevor Lawrence progress, and from that perspective - the season has already been a success. He's steadily improved over the season, and the coaching staff has done a better job in weeks 4-6 than they did in 1-3. The Jags will have a ton of cap space next year, with the only real decision on free agents to retain being DJ Chark and possibly Cam Robinson. I think they give Chark a 4 year $45 M deal which is about his market value, and they let Cam walk and install Walker Little at LT. Still plenty of cap room to add a few more pieces around Trevor. Dan Arnold is looking like a good receiving option at TE, the best we've had in at least a decade. Jones and Shenault are solid WR's. The O-line is playing at least mediocre, which is an improvement. James Robinson is a pro-bowl level RB. Things get interesting next year, as the Texas will still be a mess and they'll be the ones with a rookie QB. Colts have underperformed and Wentz doesn't look like the answer long-term at QB. Titans are solid but unspectacular outside of Henry, but RB's have a short lifespan in the NFL. We're looking like a 4 win team, which is pretty much what I was expecting. I hear Linder and Lambo are faking their ailments to keep them from playing for Urban. Lawrence was overheard saying, ‘Just don’t be surprised if I come up with a hammy, yo. I'm sure Lambo and Urbs get along just fine. They're both into the same kind of things. He was cut days ago though.

The most important thing is seeing Lawrence continue to improve. And hopefully the coaching staff will continue doing so as well putting this team in contention late in games while playing well (even if we don't pull them all out). Both of those things happen, it'll be a successful season. Personally I find the Meyer hate on this board a bit annoying as it tends to dominate so many threads here. I do realize how polarizing he is. But ignoring the irrational takes on him, it's definitely been a slow start with some head scratchers. However we've seen improvement nearly every week. This season is as much a learning curve for Meyer as it is Lawrence. Just need to continue seeing improvement across the board. ________________________________________________ Scouting well is all that matters. Draft philosophy is all fluff.
