Lawrence Critique (merged)

He needs to start showing some sort of progress.

Anybody who's calling him a bust is brain dead and shouldn't be listened to anyways.

Let's see how it plays out. I'm not calling him a bust personally but I'm desperately wanting and waiting for him to prove the naysayers wrong.

Until we get an offensive line that can protect for more than a single second and a receiver who can get seperation (hell just if they can CATCH the ball!) I don't see him having the opportunities to prove anything to anyone, just need to get him game experience so he has film to learn from in the offseason. As long as he doesn't end up on IR the season is serving its purpose which is to get Lawrence used to the speed of the NFL and figure out what concepts he likes and doesn't so we know what to build around.
Championship Formula:

1) Draft Trevor Lawrence!
2) Play good physical Defense!
3) Keep 91% of the roster healthy!
4) ???
5) Blank #2
6) CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

What has he done to give you confidence that he's the savior? So far Minshew last year was just as effective even if Lawrence has managed an extra win. We all know Minshew isn't a franchise QB.

That’s impossible this season.

I’m dead serious when I say “what do you want him to do?”

He has no run game. No receivers who are reliable. They trotted out Treadwell and Tavon Austin for god sakes. And when they finally do get open, they drop it. I have never seen a team do so little to help their QB out. Even the Lions are doing more to help Goff out. That’s pathetic.

Then. To top it all off, they have the most inept coaching staff in the league.

So again. What do you want him to do?

Bold City just did a podcast with Nate Tice (son of Mike Tice and QB analyst) and Nate says he’s doing just fine. Trevor is processing the plays really well but there’s absolutely nothing happening on the other end.

I'd like him to read defenses effectively, hit open receivers and drive the offense down the field. Stop blaming the coaching. Coaching sucks but it doesn't make the guy miss a receiver by throwing 15 yards over the player's head. Do basic QB stuff well.

He is reading the defense well. Don’t take my word for it but someone who knows what to look for when evaluating a QB.

And I will blame coaching because they are the major issue with this season. It’s that bad.

I really get tired of reading this.  Our current wide receiver corps is junk!  They are not as good as last year's.  Between no targets to throw to, no running game to speak of, and a wobbly O-line, the kid has no chance to develop or thrive.  The current regime took a bad roster and made it WORSE!  No one can expect a rookie quarterback, talented though he is, to come in and save a franchise with the terrible roster, FO, and coaching staff we have.

How do we teach a billionaire owner to make good hires???

Don't bring facts into this thread. Trevor is the Golden boy who never does wrong. When we make a great play Trevor gets all the credit. When Trevor throws it behind a receiver 7 yards away it's everybody else's fault.

Hesitate to wade into this thread again as it feels like it's a bunch of people yelling back and forth at each other trying to prove their right when frankly it's far too early to say one way or the other. Personally I think the guy has all the talent in the world, isn't perfect, and is getting little help from coaches or players. But I think he has the ability to develop into an elite player.

Saying that I think most people are in agreement the one area he needs to develop is accuracy. Specifically on these shorter crossing routes. Deep passes down the seam, post routes, even comebackers where a guy sits down, he seems pretty accurate for the most part. His strength is driving the ball down the field. Whereas the timing routes where players are running perpendicular across the field or running towards the sideline at not quite a 90% degree angle are where he struggles from time to time. And for some odd reason, it's almost as if the offense has now been specifically designed where these are the majority of passing routes. Almost as if they are trying to focus on the weakest part of his game. I get we have zero deep speed. And you constantly hear about how "compressed" the offense is. But they are intentionally making it more compressed than it needs to be and focusing on plays that aren't his strength. It's bizarre.

A+

The coaches aren’t fitting the offense to his strengths. Not that there is much to fit. We need chark back in the worst way

Thing is, you digging your heels in and swinging in the opposite direction is no different from what the people you are throwing shade at are doing.

Just because you jumped ship and think it makes you some realist or in your mind smarter than others because you take some [BLEEP] pleasure in taking shots at a struggling qb during his rookie season on a [BLEEP] team that is having growing pains, doesn’t mean everyone one has to agree with you.

But take a Look at the people who are completely agreeing with you, they are either the complete d-bags of the board or obvious trolls. If That’s the kind of [BLEEP] company you like than have at it. But the whole condescending bull [BLEEP] is weak as [BLEEP]. Really no reason for it.

It’s like you are getting some pleasure out of seeing him struggle. Maybe so you can play the I told you so card or some [BLEEP] idk. Keep running with your narrative and make a few more [BLEEP] threads. Drive a few more posters away and then you will have the whole place to yourself. Keep fighting the good fight lol

Gardner Minshew was not better last season. He did, however, have an experienced NFL coaching staff that knew how to design an offense. Trevor has SO MUCH more talent than Minshew. Anyone can see it.

The Jags WRs are worse. The Jags running game is worse (mostly because they refuse to run Robinson...what the hell?). The offensive line is the same, and it wasn't good. What are you expecting him to show you?

I'm a realist and don't live in lala land like some of you. Instead of blindly believing Lawrence is the franchise its healthy to take a solid look and think he may not be.

Some of the ones who argue against me are some of the same ones who believd in Gene Smith, Dave Caldwell, and about every other loser who helped make this team what it is. I will stick with the board d bags as you label them.

I don't get pleasure of Lawrence playing bad but facts are facts. He is probably the worst starting Qb in the NFL. It's time to start acknowledging that.

Yes I am smarter than most on this board. My track record of being ahead of the curb proves that.

I help drive this board. Yes I make alot of threads but the board is dead. Outside of me there are only a few threads a week. You are welcome for that.
