Well I guess the Saints, Seahawks, Colts and Patriots didn't deserve to be in the NFL at various points in the last 20 years.

This is just too much.

Quote:a 2nd + a 4th or 5th would be fair compensation, I'd think.

I wasn't including Joeckel in that previous comment, and I agree that I think Joeckel should fare better at OLT than ORT.

Especially since teams will just line up their best pass rusher against whatever turnstile gets inserted at ORT...

Quote:Key phrase in your post is "not solely a Monroe problem."

If Monroe has been inconsistent throughout his career, and after two years of improvement he regressed thus far this year, how much demand could there be for him?

Why WOULD a team pay top draft choice compensation for him?

There's no shortage of teams that could use a LT.

I just think he should have netted more than he did. I know the contract & recent play are factors, but so is premium position as well as young age. I've seen & gave examples of other players (in past deals of recent NFL history) that were in a similar contract situation and older/ not as good that netted more in return...

I think a 4th + a 5th rounder is chump change to pay for Monroe.

I think Newsome simply took the rookie GM to school.

AT the very least, a 3rd + a 4th is the minimum he should have warranted. / or 2nd + a 5th.....

Did not expect to hear anyone call Eugene Monroe soft, but it happened. He just wasn't mean & physical enough for zone scheme

The way this sounds is Caldwill might trade back a few spots, stack up on picks and take Jake Matthews at 4 or so. Then trade back into to 1st or take a QB in the 2nd.

"Deserve to be in the NFL"! The comedy keeps on coming.

Is there something in the Constitution somewhere about the rights of the NFL?

If bad teams can't be in the NFL there would be no franchises left.

Your ignorance concerning the history of the NFL is somewhat shocking.

I can't believe people still can't seem to grasp simple concepts. It absolutely blows my mind.

Joeckel, Matthews, and Manziel here we come

Man, this thread has it all. Caldwell is worse than Gene Smith and Shack Harris combined, overrating players, the team is moving, the team should be kicked out of the nfl, and probably a few other hot takes I'm missing.

They gave him a chance to see if he would be in the future plans. He doesn't fit the scheme and his play regressed so they got the best value they could get. Joeckel will be fine at LT.

I don't think so. I look at the Seahawks as a model. Their right tackle (Brent Giacomini) was a late round pick signed off the Packers practice squad. You can find guys to plug in that spot.

I said this yesterday in one of the posts in this thread I think....

That scares me.

Manziel is not the QB you want.

Let's hope not... that would be just awful. Take Teddy 1st overall, then trade up in the 2nd round to have 2 second rounders and get Oline help.

Jake Matthews would just be terrible. We need a QB.

The clock was ticking the moment Joekel was drafted.

At some point, sooner or later, he was destined to be our LT.

This is something they had likely been working on ever since the card was at the podium.

What if... we get RG3 deal for Teddy then...get nice deal for Clowney...then take Matthews...then bolster other spots...then let Gabbert tank for Jameis? Probably not gonna happen
