Yes, Frenette confirmed the meeting on Twitter. Why didn't he report that before national media?

when the team is your bread and butter, you probably hesitate to burn that bridge. If it's one source, and you can't get a second to confirm, that's a risky report to publish.

There have been just as many leaks about players are going to say a giant hell no to coming to Jax in FA. What coach could change their mind?

Maybe Bieniemy would have the best shot? A guy that the players love and think has deserved a chance for many years, and I'm not going to dance around it, hiring a black coach would probably help quite a bit.

I think any coach who players know will treat them like human beings has a leg up on Urbz.
Any coach who will publicly shoulder any team criticism instead of throwing his players or assistants under the bus has a leg up on Urbz.
Any coach who isn't going to be thinking past accolades gives them a pass from any current criticism has a leg up on Urbz.
Any coach with a pulse has a leg up on Urbz. I don't care if they have purple skin, and I doubt players would, either.

The most telling thing was after the game when Urban went onto the field to shake hands. Mike Vrabel came up and shook his hand for like 1 sec without looking at him and moved on fast! Then Urbs was left alone, was like a bubble around him, he was walking around in this 6 foot bubble of space ... no one coming up to him. Could have just been me, but it sure looked like everyone was avoiding him.

More unsubstantiated sensationalism. We can lose out the season and Meyer will be here next season.

I don’t think it is. There are still enough games that will allow the assistant coaches and players to be evaluated without the proverbial elephant in the room if urban exits stage early.

I really hope this is just your ploy to cushion the disappointment you'll (we'll all) feel if that's the case.

No one is signing with this team to coach or play. Khan better wake up and fix this because he is going to lose out on anything positive with Lawrence. They have polluted any chance of working with Robinson.

If he retains Meyer, they should trade Lawrence because he isn't staying here long term. My wife will get her wish and I will move on after all these years. I had no idea that it was worse than my pessimism and apathy combined.

I have a problem with these takes. We are not worse than last year. We have won more games and there is still games to play. Our D is definately improved. Trevor hasnt been a gangbuster as hoped, but I dont see how people honestly think we are even worse. We arent much better, but we are better.

We're worse in the fact that we'd farted away an entire year of TLaw's development, created a toxic environment that will scare away assistants, free agents and current players alike, and threw away countless resources in cap and draft capital at his flawed attempt to replicate the success he had at lower levels of football.

Would I be willing to throw away that extra one or two wins to reset back to last Jan. 1st? You bet your bippy I would.

Glazer on Fox had first public reaction from Urban. He didnt say if he talked to him but said Urban denied the the Marvin Jones incident and denies getting after his assistant coaches but said he is hard on his coaches but he thinks he has full support of ownership.

Urbs ain't going anywhere, lol.

And yet, a guaranteed contract he'd be crazy to walk away from. It would make sense if it was Khan that pursued him and not the other way round.

as another poster suggested, I have a feeling Khan has a meeting, hands Urbz a check in exchange for him citing a return of his esophagitis impacting his coaching throughout the season during our final post-game presser, and as such he needs to step down immediately.

This way Khan doesn't have to publicly admit wrongness in his hire, Urbz doesn't get fired publicly, and can attribute all the past chaos to indigestion. Once he finds some Prevacid, he can return to college coaching or the analyst's desk.

Do you really believe all this smoke means there's no fire?

This is an absolute dumpster fire. I feel like you took two steps forward yesterday but just took 3 steps back. Urban is gone and it may be this week.

Meyer addressed this at length in the postgame press conference yesterday. The Marvin Jones incident is not true.
He did admit to getting on his coaches. He did not give specifics as to how he addressed them, but should he not get on them? I’m not defending any words he may have said, but the fact of the matter is if a component of the team is performing subpar, the coaches should be held accountable.

Too many folks are getting red-faced and spittle-flecked about inaccurate “reports” of Meyer’s situation. Yes, we suck. No, there appears to be no light at the end of the tunnel. Is Meyer the long term solution? Right now it appears not.

However, one thing is for sure, there’s a lot of so called ‘sports journalists’ out there who are promulgating inaccurate and downright false stories in an attempt to capitalize on the Jaguars’s historically abysmal record and its angry fans for click$. It’s bad enough we suck so bad, don’t let speculation on Twitter drive-bys and half [BLEEP] reporting stoke it up to a froth.

And you have absolutely no clue if these stories are false. None. You are trusting the word of Urban friggin Meyer. Good luck with that.

Not happening.

Shad has been pretty patient with coaches, Meyer will get another season, maybe mid 2022 season he gets fired.

Of course not. Has anyone asked him? Of course not.

It would be futile. Why would he talk about it? This is somehing he may or may not confirm once he's out of here.

I’m not trusting him entirely, but when he stands in front of a bevy of reporters and states a story is not true (a statement easily verified by asking the other party involved), I’m going to say you can’t entirely trust the reporting either.

But you’re trusting a report that is untrue. So where do we stand?
