URBAN MEYER FIRED!!!

More time to rehab team image going into next season.  Hopefully Lawrence shows an upward trend to end the year.  That would really help attract offensive free agents next year.

That is gonna be a painfully long process and can only start to begin once Baalke is gone too. If he stays, I don't think much changes.

But as a FAN I'll support Shad's call.

Which is what some of you half fans should've done with the Meyer situation. As a city we should've circled around the team and coach and told the rest of the league to mind their freaking business and we won't be bullied.

It now appears that as a city and team we can be bullied into managing the team how commentators and talking heads want.

You have to be related to Meyer to have such an unpopular opinion. He was hurting our team. They weren't just rumors. Everyday it was something new. When you have this many incidents from one guy, they are no longer rumors, they are facts. He was a bad guy who who was bad at his job and he was rightfully fired, because he made a toxic workplace environment. When that many people hate him, he needs to seriously do some self-reflection and figure out why he is coming off this way and try to fix it.

You don't seem to believe all these reports were true.

Do you think all the negative incidents that were reported were made up?

I didn't hear any incidents worthy of termination. The closest is the kicking of Lambo, would need more detail for that one.

Exactly how many people hated him? The media and jaded Gator fans? I got no indication the players hated him. We look like FOOLS allowing the media to fire our coach!

I will agree that thus far he hadn't given any tests on the field. If anything that would be a reason for termination, but all the rumors and bad guy stuff...pffft...this city and team needs some notoriety.

Honestly, I'm shocked at the decision. Given Shad's history, I thought Meyer had at least another year left.

I didn't like it when Meyer was hired - if you search this forum for the word "weasel" you'll find me using it frequently to describe Meyer - but once the decision was made I hoped for the best.

As the silly mistakes and bad decisions went on, I felt like he was a rookie NFL coach who deserved the chance to make some mistakes and learn, so I didn't support him being fired this season.

But after the past several games, and all the stories about what he was doing to the players' morale . . . yeah, I joined the fire Meyer crowd a week or two ago.

The volume of stories against Meyer the past week or so have been insane. I don't think Khan had a choice at this point. But he's got to get rid of Baalke too. If he doesn't, I don't think any coach is going to come in and make real change.

Khan has been hyper patient with his staff
If he thought it was time to move on, then I have no doubt that theres atleast some legitimacy in whats been reported along with stuff that we havent even heard of yet.

Shad if you make him go away, these will go away. And Shad told the league office, and the NFLPA, no problem will take care of this tonight.

Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner.

When Urbz was hired, as a Gator fan, I had some misgivings. But with news that his deal included the building of a stand alone football facility with state of the art approach to tending to the players, as a Jags fan, I said OK.. Maybe we have something. His overall accomplishments in college fairly well blurred over his shortcomings. As noted here, he made mistake after mistake starting with keeping Baalke and hiring that strength coach. A lot of people questioned the draft but I liked a number of the picks. We got TLaw which was the no brainer and I think ETN would have been this year's offensive showpiece if he hadn't gotten injured. Campbell is now starting to come around as a starting caliber CB. Little has not panned out...yet, and Cisco is still a mysterious noshow for the most part. Still, if ETN pans out next year and Dylan Moses gets to his preinjury college form, I think we will have done alright with that draft. That said, there were just too many gaffes by Meyer. It was bad enough to warrant a firing at the end of the season but, like many here, I thought he would get another year.. the Lambo story may well have been the final nail. Kudos to Kahn for making the move if that was the case. I think that shows he really does care about this team. Hopefully he takes the next logical step and cans Baalke. We can only hope so at this point but we are Jags fans. Hope is what we do. All things considered for this season, it has shaped up for a Merry Christmas season today.

Oh, no.

I am curious to see if the offense looks any different and whether the team puts any more effort on the field. I got to wonder how demoralized some of these players have been under Urbz' "leadership".

Regardless, at end of year I expect a refresh of all coaches. Kinda hope whoever the HC is gives Cullen a chance to continue on, but wouldn't lose any sleep if the offensive side is a complete house cleaning.

What a clown show. The main problem though is Trent Baalke. He got rid of Harbaugh in San Francisco and the program fell apart after that.
The only thing Baalke is good at is winning power struggles, he's a horrible evaluator of talent and has to go.

Do any of the people who see 'no cause for termination' here own a business? Cause I'd love to go work for them, given their incredibly low standards. Nothing I could do would get me fired.

How do you take one of the worst guys and promote him to HC?

I think he has experience as an interim. The only other option was probably Charlie Strong, based on experience. Strong's limitation may have been as a position coach only he has limited experience with a majority of the roster (not like that was a problem for Urbz tho).

A butt grab!!! I careless about a butt grab, he's a man before he's a coach. I'd be more concerned if my coach didn't grab a butt every now and then!
