Leftwich was garnering attention as a QB coach/coordinator long before Brady signed with TB. IIRC he worked with Arians in AZ when they had Palmer

How do you know this? I have no doubt he has a good football IQ, but how do you know he's that knowledgeable? Do you know him personally? Has there been a declaration by the football gurus that Byron Leftwich is remarkably knowledgeable?  Is there any indication in that crystal ball of yours that he could perform as a HC? 

It's this kind of hyperbolic assumptions influenced by nostalgia and desire for retribution that will cause another bad choice. We have too much as stake to gamble on another unknown. BL may be good OC with a living legend QB playing for him, but there is nothing in his makeup or track record that guarantees he can run the show. Let some other team perform that experiment. We need proven worth to step in next season.

If we wanna go up and coming it has to be Leftwich if we want an established guy the Pederson would be a good hire. Made Wentz look like an MVP before he got injured and had Foles playing at a high level.

Absolutely right. I will try to be open minded and as of today I only know a candidate I don't want. If the candidate looks reasonably competent I'll try to give him a chance.

There are enough proven winners to pursue. You’re exactly right. Let someone else run the experiment on the up and comers. 

I have a favorable opinion of Leftwich. But I want to see how he performs without Brady there before I’m taking the risk.

Fix the O-Line!

I think results have shown some head coaches, like Reid, manage to groom QBs into success, and some don't. I want a Reid, not a guy that acts tough in press conferences but who has never had a prospect show growth under him.

McDaniels is a great example of this, he's managed to win with guys like Cassell and Brissette, I've only seen Tomlinson win with a future Hall of famer that someone else groomed.

He's developed plenty of guys on that roster. They end up a receivers factory, in particular. And their GM often lets those guys walk, and boom, the next guy is just as much a threat. That's a damn good system to have in place if you have a great QB at the helm.

Are you telling me it's a strike against him that he came to a team with an HOF QB in place, and they didn't give him a chance to replace him with his own developmental prospect?
IIRC he was a DC with the Vikes before he took the PIT job, so it's a bit of a reach to think that he'd be the ideal prospect to develop your QB.

No, I'm telling you it's a strike against him that when backup quarterbacks have to play their team seems to perform a lot worse. We need someone that grooms quarterbacks, not someone that succeeds with a QB someone else groomed.
