I'm going to go out I a limb and say one could argue he's been our best player over the last 3 weeks.  A few weeks ago when he had his best game, Griffin was out and he was our number 1 corner.  Yesterday he allowed 7 yards on 7 targets, a pick, and a couple pass breakups.  Even early in the season when he looked bad, he never really got beat.  He was always right there on his guy he just didn't get his head around to locate the ball

Your last point is interesting. You are right he was always in position to make a play. I guess it is easier to coach a guy to turn his head around than elite speed.

I really like this kids mental outlook. He is a very mentally strong young man and look for him to be a building block of the team moving forward.

1.)  Take care of the ball.  Win the turnover battle.

2.)  It's all about 3rd down.  Win on 3rd down to win the game.

3.) Playmakers make plays.  The only reason that you put your uniform on is to make plays. In order to EARN your paycheck, you must make plays.

When he has to turn his back on the play it is still very much an adventure. He's definitely improved I'm not denying that, but it's mostly been because of the scheme change not because of his personal growth I don't think.

It's a bit of both, no rookie comes in playing full speed in this League. I'm glad to see he's playing better but still concerned that his ceiling isn't very much higher.

I didn't say he's doing it every play and playing  at an All Pro level.  Most plays he's doing what he needs to and locating the ball.  Of course you don't think it's personal  growth, you don't like to give credit when it's due.  He's doing much better at finding the ball compared to early in the season regardless of the defense we run. He is a rookie and has improved  more than any player on this team from the start of the season, you can tell he's been putting in the work

Campbell has improved a lot. On one hand this is exactly what you want from rookies but on the other hand he was quite bad initially. Hope he continues to improve. Then I'm starting to feel ok about our secondary.

....one can only wonder if the other rookies would have followed similar development paths if allowed time on the field.

He's an exciting player. He seems to be getting good pretty quickly and man does he have the size/speed to be downright dominant if he wants too. Was a great pick.

I loved the pick when it happened. I felt it a major position of need despite the Griffin signing and Henderson pick the year prior and I liked the reports I read on the prospect.

Then I began to read misgivings about him from a few posters here whose analysis I respect and I figured it was possible I'd been duped.

As the season began and his clear struggles emerged with ball tracking, I was disheartened and eventually started thinking I'd been duped by optimistic draftniks and didn't watch enough cut-ups to form my own opinion definitively.

Now - well - it seems like both were true.
The good reports on him were accurate to an extent, and there were also good reasons to be concerned.
But if he continues to make progress as a player and coaches continue to utilize him in a zone-heavy scheme, he just might thrive.
Happy to see development from at least one player in this utter nightmare of a season.

Campbell is what we thought Henderson was.

He won't be a #1 because he is slow in the hips, can't change direction. He can be good enough if he can figure out how to track the ball.

He needs take all off-season and have some kids run around while he tries to stay with them while keeping his eyes on the QB. He has to figure that out.

He's actually a mixed bag on short area quickness.  In some ways he has some stiffness, but in other instances he can plant his foot and make plays a lot of people can't.  It also helps that he has elite straight line speed.  He doesn't have to break his hips to run as early in the route which will allow him to break on underneath routes earlier.  

I'm both excited about the kid and aware that he's not deon.

I honestly didn't like the pick. I am a Bulldogs fan as well. He never really jumped out in particular in the games I watched him in.

I also felt like it was a pick that should have been invested towards the offense for Lawrence's sake.

With that said. After the trade with Henderson it made sense on paper and I am happy he's improved. Earlier on he was getting beat badly and getting lost when the ball was up for grabs.

He's learning to use the boundaries now to his advantage.

Cisco should be starting these next 3 games. Really interested to see how he does. He was the highest rated rookie safety in Preseason and a playmaker in college. Him and Campbell could really make this secondary something special if they live up to their potential
