Sad, but, reasonable and realistic. Agreed. I do think a lineup like this could win 5-6 games and that would be a big improvement over what we have now. Like I keep stressing, this is gonna be a long process. There are no easy fixes. This team is really screwed up. We're gonna have to try and fix what we can, now and some areas are gonna have to wait.
The best and somewhat realistic roster following the draft and free agency is listed below. I opted to make 2 trades on draft day (via Fanspeak) which the Jaguars can realistically do. They gave up 1(1) to the WFT for 1(9), 2(9), 3(9) and 4(9). I'd even take that deal without pick 4(9), if necessary. I overpaid my top 3 free agents (Armstead, Reddick and Tomlinson) for $23, $16, and $11 million/yr. respectively. Rather than pay one of the FA wide-receivers too much, I drafted several due to the depth at this position in the draft. Adams is the only true #1 and he's not coming here. Here goes:
Q.B. Lawrence, Beathard R.B. Etienne, Robinson and Zack Charbonnet (Rd. 4) W.R. Jameson Williams 1(9), Chark (one year deal), Jailen Nailor (pick 4(1), Viska, Treadwell, M. Jones, J. Tolbert (pick 5/1) : One of these we either cut or trade in pre-season. T.E. Arnold, Tre McBride (pick 3/5), Manhertz, Hollister O.T. Armstead and Little, Richardson and Nick Ford (pick 6/1) in reserve O.G.Tomlinson, Bartch, C. Tyler Linderbaum (pick 2/1) swing linemen: J. Taylor, Jarrett Patterson (pick 4/9), Shatley D.E./Edge: Josh Allen, Hasaan Reddick, Chaisson, Derrick Hall (pick 3/9) D.T. : Hamilton, Brown, Tufele Swing linemen: Smoot, Gotsis MLB: Nakobe Dean (pick 2/9), Wilson, Quarterman OLB: Jack, Jordan Smith, S.: Jenkins, Cisco, Ford, Thomas C.B. Griffin, Campbell, Bryant (pick 3/10), Herndon Return specialist (and reserve receiver): Agnew Punter: Cooke Kicker: anyone who can reach the end-zone on kick-offs Obviously, not all of these are totally realistic (Linderbaum in 2nd, Armstead coming here), but it is not impossible. Having the top pick gives the NEW general manager the opportunity to execute trades, especially for rounds 1, 2 and 3. The large salary cap room of over $70 million allows Khan to slightly overpay free agents who might not totally love the idea of coming to the laughing stock franchise of the NFL. In free agency, money usually talks and the combination of Lawrence, a competent coaching staff and new general manager Jacksonville may not seem too bad to potential free agents. Having great golf, fishing and low taxes doesn't hurt either.

You do not live in a somewhat realistic reality. It makes completely perfect sense that you think mock drafts made 4-5 months prior to a draft have a real bearing on where they will go. If that were the case, We would not have gotten Walker Little and Tyson Campbell because a lot of folks had them Mocked to go mid 1st round. And aside from Davante Adams, our free agent haul from before the '17 season was arguably better than this one. We aren't going anywhere any time soon if we continue to go for mid-tier bums who aren't good enough to earn a second contract from their previous team. Maybe unlikely, but not out of the realm of possibility would have been a better way to put it. If said players I listed above decided they would play in Duval we have the money and some to get them so it's not really that crazy. Realism: Understanding that a franchise-tag worthy WR in his 30's is either going to be tagged this off-season or choose to sign with a team that has legit SB aspirations. Duval ain't none of that.
Stop thinking Adams is going to sign here, and the rest will become a whole lot more realistic.

There are going to be a ton of starting caliber guards in the 3rd round. I think that will be the prime spot to fill one of them, along with one FA signing (Laken or Williams plz). My perception is that a 3-4 defense doesn't use a MLB. It uses 2 ILB positions. Speed is important here but so is the ability to thump a runner. A MLB in a 4-3 Must have size as well as range to get from the middle to the sideline fast. He is usually going to be a thumper as well, prolly more so than speed. The ILB in 3-4 defenses need that same speed to the sideline but must have the instincts/ reaction time to fill the hole at the line of scrimmage and be agile enough to avoid blockers coming through that hole. Agility becomes a strong suit for them. I have said it before, I love Myles Jack being on our team but he is miscast as an ILB, honestly he was miscast as a MLB in the 4-3 as well. His best year was as SAM opposite Telvin's WILL. To me that is the question. Can Myles play one of those OLB spots? Say the one not matched up with a TE, or can he cover a TE. I just feel if he stays here he should play on the edge but he is too big and slow to be a box safety so OLB it would have to be.

Myles Jack can really only play as a 4-3 WLB at this stage, so unless the Jags plan to go back to a 4-3 alignment it doesn't make sense to keep him at his current cost. Here goes: This is interesting, detailed and a version is do-able but really depends on the GM-HC team. To get a HC that has at the interview a list of people he has already talked to and will come with him will be a must. This is where retaining our current GM makes everything shaky as he has a lot of baggage he carries from San Fran.
A new broom always sweeps clean.

It's not near realistic. It's delusional, aspirational, or simply rooted in fantasy. I mean, if all we're doing is posting hopes, I'd hope for every All-Pro to demand a trade to Duval so that we can make like Vince Young and declare us the next dream team. Mike Williams might be somewhat realistic to hope for. I honestly don't think LAC lets him leave town, though, seems he and Herbert have soemthing good going and the kid is clutch. We probably have as much chance at landing Adams as we do securing a trade with CIN for Chase. Both *could* happen, but either something has happened to tarnish the luster or we're going to be throwing the farm at them to make it a possibility.
Head Coach: NOT Bill O'Brien.
That's my (somewhat) realistic hope (keyword HOPE) for next year.
Hopefully none of these guys will be in the starting lineup next season but we've signed a few guys from the practice squad .

He’s a better deep threat than anyone available in free agency and most likely top of 2nd rounder. We’ll have to over pay or franchise, but that’s supply and demand. I’d like to see Allan Robinson signed opposite him and put Jones in slot draft/sign another burner.
