Per Mike silver, this is real life and not Twitter.  Legal and contract [BLEEP].

I paraphrased a bit.  But I think that answers the question

Sounds like there is a Rooney Rule hangup with Wilson now that you have to interview two minorities. Byron probably isn't touching his contract until Wilson gets the all clear to sign also, cause god knows Baalke would be throwing his last hail mary the second Byron signed and Wilson was still in the ether.

So if the Jags hire 2 black dudes as HC and GM, they have to interview 2 more non White dudes to fulfill a rule that makes sure you don’t overlook non white dudes, even though you just hired two black dudes? Makes sense to me!

yeah that would be truly ridiculous if we are the only team to actually hire minority candidates for both positions but get fined.

Yep it's dumb but even if you want to hire a minority you still gotta interview 2 of them for HC or GM (only 1 for a coordinator or lower job I believe). We interviewed Caldwell so Byron is in the clear, but we're gonna have to interview someone else for GM it appears.

Work around this by interviewing a minority candidate who they like for an assistant role. At least it won't be a wasted interview.

Q1: You understand you're here today to interview for the GM position, correct?
Q2: But if you don't get the job, would you be open to fetching coffee for the GM?
Q3: OK, great, let's camp out for a while on other roles you could fill.

Looks like the interview has to be in person too.

Someone suggested they just interview TK and honestly why not.

I believe the candidates have to been external to the organization.

I wonder if the commissioner has the power to waive it.  It seems illogical to interview if you are already hiring a minority for the position.

If you're gonna hire a minority, why in the heck would you have to interview another that you have no intention of hiring? These rules are stupid. As far as Byron, I don't blame him. Don't sign the contract until you know Baalke won't be your GM.

Just pull somebody off the street, walking past the building and interview them.

I hope it’s Byron and Wilson because we can’t go a full offseason without some OlineMatters mock drafts!

I got one geared up and ready to go after the playoffs. 2 versions. One if Baalke stays and one if Baalke goes. Wanna guess which one I like better? LOL.

Don’t they have to officially fire Baalke before they can interview another minority candidate. Why then have they not at least officially announced Baalke’s firing.

As much as I want him fired, he just may get demoted instead. As long as he has nothing to do with the draft, I'm fine with it. I'd prefer him to be completely relieved of his duties, but if they demote him to something like executive president of stadium janitorial services, that would suffice. LOL.
