Jags to hire Leftwich as next head coach!!

(01-28-2022, 04:07 PM)tomfin2022 Wrote: Here’s the only compromise I see working.  Baalke resigns with a generous severance package, Leftwich is hired as the HC, and then Tony, Shad, and Leftwich interview GM candidates, one of which is Adrian Wilson.  Baalke gets to ride into the sunset as the selfless hero that did the right thing for the organization even though he was clearly wronged, the coach that all three of them had previously agreed on is hired, and Shad saves face in terms of bring told who his GM is going to be.  Leftwich’s compromise is that his GM may not be Wilson, but it definitely won’t be Baalke.
That's what I'm hoping.  I really lie Wilson's FA class, but I'm not so sure about his drafts

This is going down as I expected ... that is once twitter blew up. Kahn is a billionaire, he does not need our (or anyone's) approval on anything to do with his team. He didn't get where he is by being pushed and prodded by anyone. (probably just the reverse) In fact, a lot of pushing and gnashing of teeth could just make him dig his heels in more. The last time he moved what I assume to him was fast doing this, it tuned out badly and he will take his time because it is important to him to not have a repeat. Christmas will come but just be patient, he knows he is on the "clock" but this is the NFL clock. Not the fans clock, so he has time.

But if that clown IS the king he is the only one that can say "off with his head" so tread lightly around him...Wink

Well, he's Vice Pres of Pro Personnel, so free agency would have been his primary focus.

Yeah, I liked what he did in FA and the trade for Hopkins

The Cardinals signing of Steelers UFA RB James Conner was one of the best NFL FA decisions in 2021.

It is championship weekend. Nothing is happening now that we hit Friday. Roger wants the focus on the games. This will probably get lame again on Tuesday.

Khan can only satisfy himself at this point. He isn't a fan of this team. The sport doesn't mean much to him. I am sure our petty little feelings are annoying and bothersome. He is the one handing out the real money on this right now. Props to his son for moving on these things but at the end of the day dad isn't invested like the fans.

Khan has one year of success. He is probably pissed that Urban did this to him.

What’s Christmas in this scenario? If it’s Bevell and Baalke, then cancel Christmas.

I’m starting to think that as long as Shad controls the team the Jags will always suck.

Khan wouldn't of interviewed all these HC candidates if we were sticking with Bevell

He interviewed Bevell…..

Don’t underestimate just how inept Shad is at this point. This whole hiring process has been a disaster the second he let Baalke stay on board.

Nothing happened on Friday, so I'm expecting Leftwich to move on

I could be wrong but my hunch says a deal gets done. As far as Leftwich he could bail if things are still being negotiated. Could be a gamble for him though. Could go back to being OC next year. But if brady retires and they can't find good qb, the shine could come off Leftwich if he has a bad year. Obviously a lot of "ifs" but if you're this close to bring head coach, gotta think the situation would have to be awful to walk away.

Also, t's leftwitch "home team" sort a speak. One would surmise that this is kind of a special job opportunity for him along with the facts that there are very limited head coaching jobs available in any given year.
