If it's Pederson, Baalke is likely still around. If it doesn't work, how long will fans continue to grasp to "BuT hE wOn A sUpErB oWl" before they sour on him? Does Khan dismiss Baalke, or Pederson? I'm afraid to find out. If it works, we're stuck with Baalke, and Khan will have ammo to dismiss media, fanbase, or team blowback on hirings and firings. If Baalke and Pederson clash, does he repeat his end days in Philly? To what lengths does Baalke go to save his skin if the ship isn't righted?

If it's Bevell, or anyone else for that matter, the clown masks won't go away. Fans will be upset with every penalty, incompletion, or failed play. There will be no patience, and the fans will be in direct opposition to everyone from the coaches upward, including the owner. Lack of fan support might lead to horrible downstream impacts.

Admittedly I never thought Byron was necessarily better than the other assistant coaching candidates. I have no idea if Leftwich would be a better leader than the others. But I think I would have liked a Leftwich / Wilson combo with Spielman mentoring both of them as the EVP. Two young guys with a lot of enthusiasm and who would be a draw to many players around the league. And an experienced guy to help oversee and guide them. I think it says a lot about Leftwich to not back down regarding Baalke but I do wonder if he pigeonholed himself into saying he'd only work with Wilson.

As far as what happens next, if I'm the Saints I get Pederson on the horn ASAP. Can you imagine if we end up with Baalke and Bisacia (or whatever his name is). What a complete and utter epic disaster of a coaching hire process this will be. Maybe by some sheer magical luck this would work out but it would only be in spite of this horrible process.

I believe Khan is well aware. But after what transpired with the Urban Meyer hiring decision,  Khan likely is struggling to admit to the public that he made another immense mistake as Jaguars owner.

Regardless of your views of Leftwich or any of these candidates. Regardless of your views with Khan as a business man or how some of the fans have behaved on here or out in public?

So far? Not a good look for Khan as an owner. Which is saying a lot. How many of us have said "this is rock bottom right?" or "can't possibly get any lower can it?".

41 - 113. Back-to-back number one overall picks. The Meyer carousel. Baalke being universally panned yet still being held onto by ownership. This is outrageously bad. I feel like the show is just getting started to be honest. Can't wait for free agency and the combine and the draft.
