With that said, people are preaching about him being a SB winner etc etc, so we better get results and it better happen fairly soon. Somebody as accomplished as Pederson seems to be (in many peoples words) shouldn't take 2-3 years for results. We need to see real progress in year 1 and real serious progress in year 2.

6 or 7 wins in year 1 isn't asking much from a SB winning coach who's suppose to be so good and experienced.

He is coming to a team that has finished in last place in the division the last four years, and finished with the worst record in football in each of the last two years.

This team still lacks talent in a lot of areas.

The team needs to learn how to win.

It'll take time to institute the culture change, bring in talented players who will not only fit his schemes, but be able to win individual match ups during games.

I am confident in his ability to assemble a good staff here.  I am also confident in his ability to change the culture and develop Trevor Lawrence into the QB we all think he can be.

I am confident he will take the TE position seriously...perhaps the first Jaguars coach since JDR to do so.

But it's not going to happen overnight.  Because we have botched the drafts before this year and because we are changing schemes (possibly returning to a 4-3)

Baalke's presence hurt this team in the coaching search, no question, and quite possibly in last year's draft.

Right now, I'm thinking Baalke stays on for another year, at least, unless they bring in Spielman over him and Baalke leaves, either of his own accord or Spielman forces him ouy.  If Baalke stays, the best case scenario is he is demoted with Spielman brought in.  That's what I see happening at this point.

Since Pederson was brought here and Baalke's influence would presumably be reduced considerably, I can live with that for now-only assuming Spielman is brought in and placed in a superior position to Baalke.

Another year of an unfettered Baalke running things will stunt this team's progress.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

While I think the search went horribly and I feel bad for Byron and Wilson, this is who I wanted as my #1 choice for this team at this time. If we had a little more talent and didn't have a toxic snake of a GM(who seemingly can't be fired) I would love to have seen Byron hired. He can now go back to OC the Bucs and likely goes into a better situation next year as a HC candidate.

Let's all hope this time, it works for us!

After having time to digest I feel a lot better regarding the hire still feel the process was a shocker and they’ve ended up falling on the the right choice by accident and not through competence.

I still feel nervous to see what the structure is going to look like and what baalke role is, even if Spielmen is hired as evp and baalke as gm I still think it’s a bad recipe.

In a dream scenario and structure in my opinion your evp should be judged on the success of your gm and head coach and should be in charge of holding those positions accountable. I obviously don’t want baalke as gm making draft choices and decisions but I don’t think that an evp should be making those decisions it should fall to a competent gm

Evp should be there to oversee the football operations that khan knows nothing about, and should be in charge of hiring and firing gms and head coaches not doing there jobs for them. Think this is where the structure failed with tc last time

Baalke doesn't leave on his own. He is fighting for his career. He will do everything he can to still have a job. He doesn't get a job anywhere else, even in a lower position.

Right and for daring to want to pick his own assistants. I know some people also brought up not talking with Wentz for a chunk of the season but he seemed pretty upset that he couldn't continue with Wentz and help him with the mental side.

Even though I preferred to have an young, up and coming HC I feel that the right choice was made. Experience is definately what our team needs at this point and time. Let Pederson do his job and get us back on track.

Same here. He's a good hire, as would have been Byron. Dragging the process out this far took all the wind out of the sails, though. We're still going to have the spectre of Baalke looming, and unless he hits a home run with this darft, I don't see fans coming around to him any time soon.
