If Spielman is our GM, then you can expect a trade back in the draft.

Im hapy with this, not really sure if i had a 1st choice but Pederson isnt a bad hire. Did a good job in Philly before injuries killed their seasons. If Baalke is gone too then its a real win.
Just happy we have a HC and can start working on this roster. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

I went from blah to super excited. Next it would be great to see the press conference
This may have been said elsewhere but with the Eagles Pederson's best skill player for 3 or 4 straight years was arguably Zach Ertz. And Ertz is now available. Don't know what their relationship was so maybe it'd be a bad fit. But if Ertz is looking for one more big payday, he'd be a big need here and we have room. Getting up there age so obviously we would be getting him on the downside of his career but still better than anything we have here.

What we need is for a QB prospect to heat up over the next couple of months and become the darling of the draftniks. It seems to happen almost every year. It would sure be nice to be the fleeceor instead of the fleeceee for a change.

For those new to the country, those three legendary coaches rank #1, #5 and #16 in career wins in NFL history. Ok, fine. You are clearly cherry picking your statistics. The points is that there are several examples of head coaches taking teams to the Super Bowl and then doing so again with another team. You are conveniently removing Super Bowl losing coaches from your statistic because it hurts the narrative that you want to create. To argue that Pederson would be a better candidate if he lost the Super Bowl instead of winning the Super Bowl feels like a silly misuse of statistics to me. In regards to the "third argument", it is PRECISELY the point. The message that you responded to made ZERO mention of the fact that Pederson had won a Super Bowl. The person didn't understand why people felt it was less risky to take a retread coach given that they had failed. Looking at the success of retreads is exactly on point. While Belichick, as the GOAT, is an excellent example of why you might want to hire a retread, it doesn't stop with him. I'll put him aside. Let's go back in reverse chronological order and look at the other coaches who have won the last several Super Bowls:
To be fair, this year's Super Bowl will be won by a first time head coach. I'm not saying retreads are 100% good and first time head coaches are 100% bad, but there are definitely legitimate reasons why many may prefer hiring a retread. This is something I touched on in some other threads, including yesterday on page 4 of the, Mr. Khan' FIRE BAALKE' thread. In addition to the list from the tweet you shared (thanks), in the 2015 NFL Draft, Rick Spielman traded down with the divisional opponent Lions ( sigh ) around 11 spots in Round 3 and still ended up with DE Danielle Hunter. Most of the Vikings fans that wanted Rick Spielman's head had no clue or ignored the high skill level that Spielman used on accumulating draft picks. I have no idea how the Vikings new GM will pan out but as a Lions fan I'm relieved that Rick Spielman is no longer running the Vikings drafts.

If it was said that Pederson wasn't willing to work with Baalke either....and for some reason we don't hear news of Baalke being gone or Spielman hired to manage over Baalke at least, then why did Pederson end up taking the job? I can only speak for me. Last year I was very disappointed that he went with Urbz. I took a wait and see approach because we had no talent but a shot at Lawrence. Then we started seeing the NFL dates go by without roster improvement. Then we had the Minshes and Tebow nonsense. I still figured we would at least see improvement. And then we had the openning day debacle. And then the leaks started happening leading up to Khan being forced to fire Urbz. All of that was a head scratcher. Then the Baalke fingerprints started showing a trail of disappointment. Then we go through this bizzare coaching search where the leaker and back stabber is running the show. Yeah a front office position that is normally unnoticed was made known to me and I want him gone.
Birth of the Franchise - November 30, 1993
Death of the Franchise - November 29, 2011 Fans deserve better. Thanks for all the good times too many are in the past.
I cringed the day Baalke was hired by Dave Caldwell. I was quite familiar with his shenanigans in San Francisco. His behavior since then has done nothing to change my mind.
Basically, you can be a good guy and be mediocre at your job, and you’ll probably be able to stay employed. You can be a buttmunch and be great at your job, and probably be able to stay employed. What you can’t be is a buttmunch that’s mediocre at your job and be able to stay employed. |
