Yes, it will be very interesting to see what shakes out here.  Kahn has a very thin tightrope to navigate.  It's obvious that the front office can run better (not to mention the back office, I suspect) but at the same time, the club has been in constant turmoil.  If Balke leaves unhappy then the disruption could be really bad but if Balke stays then it's obviously difficult to change and improve.  Kahn has to find a way to sideline or improve Balke with Balke's consent.  Not easy.

The second he became available last year, he became my top choice.  The only guy I would have wanted above him was Payton...and he didn't become available until late. 

Like Pederson, he decided to sit out this year...so he became a non factor.

I think the duo of Leftwich and Wilson would have been great.  But I am quite happy with how things have turned out.

If I could change a couple of things, Baalke would be gone now, and Pederson would have been hired much sooner.

Thanks for sharing that video, Bullseye. Good insight on Pederson's RPO approach.

A lot of what Pederson likes to do with the RPO and inside zone read? That's exactly what Lawrence was running at Clemson. Philosophically they should blend very well together. Etienne should be great in this system. Robinson, when he's healthy? He'll be ready to go. It puts a lot of pressure on Lawrence to read the box correctly, get the count correctly and understand what he's truly seeing out there from a coverage perspective. In the long run it's going to make him a better QB.

I think we're fixing to see a lot of fun and exciting things on offense this year. Really, really excited about who they're going to target next month in March and who they start looking at in the draft. Getting a guy like Ertz or Schultz to combine with Arnold. Getting one of these receivers in the market or bringing back Chark is exciting. You might actually see Shenault thrive in this system once they get it going with the pick plays and RPO screen formations.

A WR now like Dotson, Shakir, Bolden and Philips in the draft start to climb up on your draft board a little bit more in this type of system. A TE like McBride, Kolar and Likely start to look more and more intriguing to add into the mix. You really want an Ertz / Goedert situation here now with this offense.

Pederson has effectively combined traditional WCO principles and more modern RPO principles that will serve many on our team well.  As you pointed out, TL ran a lot of RPO in college, and being trained in WCO principles will help him a good deal, too, especially when it comes to footwork and short accuracy.

I also believe Pederson will maximize Etienne's production, assuming Etienne is fully recovered from his injury.  Etienne had value to TL as much as a receiver as a runner.  Pederson utilizes receiving backs well.  darren Sproles had 52 catches under Pederson in 2016.  A healthy Etienne possesses some of the same skill sets as Sproles in the passing game.

A key will be whether DH Chark can be re-signed.  Chark had his best year under a WCO type scheme under Jay Gruden.  I think Chark at his best is better than a Nelson Agholor, who was productive under Pederson.

As for prospects in this draft, I have long been a fan of Dotson, but I am unsure if he'll be a target for us.  I like what I've seen of Shakir, but want to see more.  I am excited to see a credible TE or two finally added to the offense, and this draft seems loaded with good prospects at the position.

I gotts say, i was really impressed seeing so many players coming in to meet Pederson. He said from speaking to the players they want to win and he is saying all the right things about developing players and units. I think we have a good core of guys that we can build around and help get so much better like Lawrence and Josh Allen. Its got to be hard playing for us the last 2 seasons with the scores and all the drama and not think there are 31 other teams out there (well maybe 30, theres also the Jets). 

I know Baalke is still here and it sucks but hopefully he listens to Pederson and if theres someone that Pederson wants, hopefully Khan goes for that over Baalke's guy.

The only weird thing is when i keep hearing the name Doug my brain keeps thinking 'oh no, Marrone's back'

Judge a man on his merits and accomplishments not the color of his skin.  I hate this whole new age pc/cancel culture who like to label everything.

Considering the Flores suit is front and center at the NFL's focus right now, I would say that this cycle especially does bring the race equation into the discussion, whether it has legs or not. Probably won't be able to discuss this much further without risking politics, so I'm gonna leave it at that.

Not in the slightest, other than the fact we hired a white coach I guess. Khan must be racist I tell ya.

I've been saying this about marketing in general for a while now, with regards to the increase in black presence in new commercial advertising, TV shows, etc. Not that this is a bad thing because it helps develop new sales markets, and also helps companies ward off accusations of institutionalized racism, but at some point a saturation point has to be reached and you might see this trend fade a bit. Long term, its not the greatest business model to aim 75-80% of your advertising at 13% of your market. And the NFL is kind of a microcosm of this; large % of participants are black, but the large % of the consumer is white. So there's a tension there, and it's a balancing act that will be a challenge for the NFL. From the fans perspective, we just want positive results, regardless of the race of the coach/players. As i think most companies do. It would be interesting to see how other professions are broken down by race, vis a vis manager and labor. My own profession is an example. A large amount of the talent pool in IT is Indian, yet very few projects are headed up by an Indian manager. Is this bias? Not sure. Does it affect overall product? Doesnt seem to. Maybe a bad example, but its the one closest to me. Others will have thier own.

Biggest take away from that is. Why are we one of the few teams that has a black offensive line coach to begin with?

He's been an offensive line coach in the NFL since 1996. He's been at a lot of different places. I doubt he'll have any issues getting another gig. Bills and Giants have openings.

Also. Who's to say Doug doesn't already have a guy in mind who also just so happens to be black?

Doug is the head coach and will choose his own coaching staff.  I am pretty sure he will not care about anything but the coach doing a good job. People that don't manage that way rarely succeed for long. Like I said this will be some good entertainment while we wait for the draft.
