Wyoming Kids Learning Gun Safety in School
|
Back in the 50's, most schools taught gun safety so IMHO, it's a Good skill to master........

It should be mandatory in ever school in the United States. Guns aren't going away, so people need to learn how to safely use them, instead of hiding their heads in the sand.

Lack of education contributes to dumb choices.

I agree gun safety should be taught in school.
Don't touch it, tell a grown up you saw it. Any parent that has guns needs to teach that ASAP but the schools should be filling in the gaps where parents are less responsible. Unfortunately there are so many makes and models of guns out there that the schools won't be able to get more specific than that. And parents with guns need to be preparing for the day when they will need to teach their kids how to use those guns.

A reservist on drill told me how when he was growing up in the 60s and early 70s used to trade rat tails (as an effort to control rodent populations in local agriculture) for .22 ammunition on Saturdays in the local high school gym. This was in California.
I attended hunter safety class in my high school’s vo-ag building while in the 7th grade where we had to display ability to safely handle and safe a shotgun. Now kids are suspended and labeled as dangerous if they make a gun symbol with their thumb and forefinger. We’ve progressed so far.
After almost moving to Wyoming a few years back and getting to know the culture up there it doesn’t surprise me at all.
I’m all for teaching gun safety in schools help the first thing I do when I buy another gun is show it to all my kids have them hold it and feel the weight of it and the older ones get to go outback and shoot it. Take the curiosity out and let them feel the power so the respect it. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! |
