Dang, don't like how high they ranked Ogbah. With it seeming to be a foregone conclusion we're going OT at 1, Ogbah would have been maybe my top target overall. He ain't coming here if he is that in demand though. Can say the same about Noteboom =/

I'd still pursue Noteboom.

I would too, but he's gonna get starter money. I would just pay him to be the RT of the future, but I've given up expecting anything but OT at 1 so giving Noteboom starter money doesn't make sense.

Sign Noteboom

Let Cam go

Little starts at LT, Noteboom at RT

Draft another lineman no later than round 3 to provide better depth.

Use the $17 saved on Cam to sign one of the the top free agent WR

It's nice that someone has finally given Baalke the shove to spend that it will take, but I still strongly fear that the same agents who were just bashing Baalke relentlessly during our HC search are going to laugh when he calls them about their elite FA.

Exactly. I find it extremely unlikely that we end up with any premier free agents. I just believe we'll overspend on 2nd tier guys just like we did last year.

I think it's fair to say that Griffin was a 2nd tier FA. The rest were tier 3/4 at best IMO. I expect about the same this year.

Agreed. Nobody wants to work with Baalke and it's gonna show. Khan doesn't care though.

Meh -  You guys are discounting the way players and agents view Pederson IMO.

Agents can be sold on working with a Pederson staff and a rising star at QB - and those agents can sell their players on it.

The majority of free agents still follow money. Exceptions exist and will not be in play for us, but the rest are still able to be lured and landed.

That’s a lot to put on Pederson.

“Hey. We know you absolutely despise Baalke but Doug is here!”

“Yea but for how long?”

“No idea but he’s here now!”

Money is #1, no one disputes that. But, if you're going to make money the only thing then the money has to be a considerable amount more than the next highest bidder. The Calais FA mini doc showed that very accurately I believe.

The problem is this year it's not going to be us vs just one or two other teams. Every team has huge amounts of cap space (except for the Saints/Pack) so it will be us vs probably a dozen other suitors for each good FA.

Is it even going to be possible for us to outbid the field by like 20% so that whoever we target eschews the many valid reasons to not want to be in Jax? For the FA in the 100-200 range like Jenkins/RRH/Agnew, yeah maybe we can overpay that tier again like we did. For the top guys like Scherff or Chandler Jones? I don't think so.

I find it odd that so many seem to think Pederson's tenure exists/continues at the leisure of one Trent Baalke.

This was an unconventional hiring to say the least, and I'd bet Pederson and his track record hold more sway with ownership than Baalke and his record.

I'd wager Baalke remains as a result of Meyer's catastrophic flame-out and the opportunity if gave Baalke to eschew blame.
If one of those two is here on a "trial" basis - I'd wager it's Baalke - not Pederson.

While you would guess that, I bet the previous 5 head coaches in 5 straight years thought that too.

We can throw lots of money at players, but this season lots of teams have a lot money. If you have two offers pretty closely together and the higher offer comes from us and the slightly lower offer comes from a team with no front office issues, happy potential teammates and a history of winning, which one would you take? I'd go to the team with no issues and a history of winning. In the end, I'd rather be happy than have a few extra bucks.

I couldn't disagree more. Apparently, Khan has a very deep, deep affection for Baalke or else Baalke has some dirt on Khan. Either way, those types of bonds are very hard to break.

It's being reported that the Bucs and Godwin are nearing a long term extension then the Bucs can use the tag on Carlton Davis.

We've talked a lot about how so much cap space league wide is going to give us a ton more competition to sign the free agents, but not nearly as much attention has been paid on the flip side of that...not nearly as many FA are going to be hitting the market. Virtually any team that wants to keep a good player can do it with ease.

If a team that has ample cap space is letting someone "good" go that might raise a red flag in and of itself, kind of like when the Browns had the most cap space in the league but still let Schobert leave.

I fully expect the Chargers to either re-sign Mike Williams to a long term deal or tag him as well. That pretty much takes all the premier FA WR's off the table.

Saw a mock with Jameson Williams dropping to 29 and Dotson still on the board at 33. I would be boosted.
