Russell Wilson traded to the Broncos

Selfishly speaking, I hope they deal with us to get Willis, and then if they don't like him, they are in position to get one of the QBs next year if they do what Arizona did. Of course, I could see them stand pat an take Willis at 9. But the whole thing is curious from Seattle's perspective. If I am Pete Carroll and in my 70s, do I really want to be around for a complete reset? If I am Seattle GM John Schneider, do I wait till next year to take a QB with a new head coach? Do I take one this year with a coach that may not be around for the long term? Who else is on the trade block from Seattle? Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

It is a weird move. Personally, there is no way I would trade a star QB this season. Anyone you replace him with is gonna be a major downgrade, not to mention that their O-Line is a mess and they have no RB to speak of. I really thought they might've tagged Duane Brown, but they didn't. Given the state of the LT position for many NFL teams, he should be in high demand even at his age. I doubt he'd wanna re-sign with Seattle now that Russell is gone. They already needed an upgrade at RT, so they may be shopping for a pair of new starting OT's. While I'd love for a team to trade up with us for a QB, I just don't see that happening. At #9 this year, they should have their pick at either the 1st, or 2nd QB off the board. Do you take that knowing you don't have to force him onto the field too soon (day 1) because you give Lock a chance to fail first? Or, do you just gut it through the year with Lock, hoping you suck bad enough to get you into the top 5, so you don't have to risk possibly trading up too many picks to get in range for the #1/#2 QB? As far as Carroll and Schneider go, maybe they're both on the same page and under the impression that this wont be a complete reset, but merely just a retooling of sorts. Maybe they think that the draft picks they get in this Wilson trade, as well as the money they'll save in cap space for trading him, on top of the cap space they already had (7th most iirc) will help them restock quickly. Heck with the egos those kinda guys have, they might think they'll just find another Wilson in the mid rounds. Hey, we did it once, why can't we do it again? Who says we got to draft a QB high? We already showed them once... Kind of thing lol. WR Tyler Lockett is said to be on the trade block for them as well.

Yea Mitch Trubisky seems to be a hot name on the FA market as well. He'll get another shot somewhere also. Will be interesting to see what happens with Jimmy. This will be the final year of his contract and he just had shoulder surgery (today I think). Will he be healed up in time for training camp or not is a big question. Is a team going to trade for him on a 1 year lease and hope there isn't any set backs in rehab? Or do you trade for him with a contract extension agreement worked in and use the injury as leverage to add a couple more years for lesser $$$. We show less advertisements to registered users. He did have almost 1200 yards receiving last season and he's gone for over 1000 yards receiving in each of the last 3 years. It's not like he's slowing down or anything. He seems to be getting better and better. We need a guy like this. Desperately............

Wow apparently "Washington had actually offered their 1st round picks for the next 3 years, and possibly a later round pick. They were also willing to add players, but the talks with Seattle never got past the initial offer."
Got killed by Wilson's no trade clause. Not sure if it was the clause or the fact that Seattle did not want to trade him to a team within the same conference. Interesting off season so far though. Next moves at the QB position should revolve around Jimmy Garoppolo and Deshaun Watson. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? Yeah this feels like a New Orleans situation for Pete Carroll to me. Your star QB retires/leaves and then the coach does the following year because "[BLEEP] all that [BLEEP]." Some of the analysts on the national shows indicated that Washington made a better offer but Wilson has a no trade clause and wanted to go to Denver (and refused to go to Washington) so they were essentially forced to take the Denver offer or keep him. He has 2 years on this contract so Denver will be put on the spot next year as he will demand a contract near the $50m/year range, at least that is the word on the Seahawks message board.
They should have gotten rid of their coach instead of their qb. Pete hasn't gotten it done in years. If you have a top ten qb and can't win, that's not the qb's fault.

I would have cleaned house after that trade personally. I needed the draft picks to rebuild and Wilson had the right value. Made sense to pull the trigger. However, I want a fresh start in the coaching department as well. The NFC West is getting tougher and tougher by the year and they seem to have enough talent to edge me out. That edge honestly seems to be on the coaching side. Pete needs to go. Could have cut ties with Pete. Traded Russel and then looked at a coach like Flores. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky.
