53 man roster
|
With free agency and the draft having concluded, the 53 man roster should look like this:
Q.B. (3): Lawrence, Beathard and Luton R.B. (4): Etienne, Robinson, Snoop, Armstead T.E. (4): Engram, Arnold, Manhertz, Farrell W.R.(6): Kirk, M. Jones, Z. Jones, Shennault, Treadwell, Austin O.L. (9): Robinson, Scherff, Shatley, Bartch, Little, Taylor, Fortner, Richardson, Ford D.L. (6): Fatukasi, Hamilton, Brown, Gotsis, Robertson-Harris, Tufele Edge ![]() L.B.: (4): Oluokun, Lloyd, Muma, Quarterman S. (4): Jenkins, Cisco, Ford, Thomas C.B. (5): Griffin, Campbell, Williams, Herndon, Brown S.T. (4): Cooke, Mevis, Matiscek, Agnew Obviously, the undrafted rookies Mevis, Austin, Ford and Austin must show enough to earn a spot on the 53. Others at risk are Tufele, Brown and Luton if they don't keep 3 q.b.'s. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
That's a pretty good stab at it.
Likely ends up pretty close to this IMO. Long way to go till September though.

A new broom always sweeps clean.
I don't think they'll keep 6 WRs and Agnew as a 7th WR (and primary return specialist). I imagine Agnew will be the 6th WR (and specialist). I think it will come down to Treadwell and Austin for the last spot on the 53.
Is it normal to go with 4 TE's? I know Manhertz is a blocker but it seems like a lot.

After the attrition at receiver last year - Baalke may push for seven (05-06-2022, 10:03 PM)Jagsman Wrote: Is it normal to go with 4 TE's? I know Manhertz is a blocker but it seems like a lot. Four is normal - especially when your top two are injury prone

It seems unlikely, however, that they cut Treadwell after giving him a one year deal in March. They paid Austin more than any other UDFA including $230,000 guaranteed so they may be afraid of placing him on the practice squad since another team might pick him up. Agnew's performance as a return man got worse when they had to use him as a receiver, but I could definitely see them using him on gadget plays again this season. He has the most quickness of any receiver on the team.
This take on Jags offseason acquisitions is gold

If you count Agnew as a wide receiver, the roster above is weighted towards offense with 27 offense versus 23 defense. I think they cut Luton and keep Arden Key. That would make it 26 versus 24. I also think either Treadwell or Austin is cut, most likely Treadwell, in favor of another defensive player. Signing Treadwell this year doesn't guarantee that he will make the team. Treadwell provided insurance in case of injuries. The Jags also didn't know Austin would become available. Treadwell's dead cap is only around $400K. Teams will cut a player with a million or two in dead cap and not blink. As for the defensive player, it could be Jordan Smith. He was a 4th rounder from just last year that was considered a developmental project when drafted. Another option would be keeping a defensive player like Chapelle Russell for special teams. I had forgotten all about him. Caldwell really blew it wit CJ Henderson and chaisson

Treadwell signed basically a minimal 1 year $1.1m deal for a vet with his years of service along with a puny $75,000 signing bonus (which is his only guarantee). His contract is no shield against the Turk. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Those 2 picks set us back about as badly as anything. It’s a lot easier in hindsight, sure, but look at all of the talent drafted after those guys in that draft. But it led us to TLaw and Doug and a bright (imo) future so it’s whatever now.

^^ yes if you change anything, the entire time line unravels and no tlaw lol
It would be great if these new coaches could get something out of a couple of players who are currently underachieving. I won't say names as we all probably know who they are. |
