I take the approach that I might as well enjoy optimism during the offseason, because I’ll be disappointed either way if we are bad. We show less advertisements to registered users. I personally think if everything goes well, our ceiling is 10 wins, but that’s assuming Trevor takes a big step.(05-18-2022, 04:55 PM)Jag149 Wrote: Amazing what having a well thought out plan and sticking to it does. We are not used to this type of organization so yea, feels quite a bit different. Now how will it transfer to the field ??? While I have a glass of the kool-aid I think I'll resist drinking it for a bit. (but sure feel like chugging it)
We will almost certainly be lower than .500 this year. That's irrelevant in my eyes. It's the improvement in the team, staff and the process. This season is the beginning of better years to come.
I agree that the team seems to be more competent this year.
Respect the game. Play with a sense of urgency.
1.) Take care of the ball. Win the turnover battle. 2.) It's all about 3rd down. Win on 3rd down to win the game. 3.) Playmakers make plays. The only reason that you put your uniform on is to make plays. In order to EARN your paycheck, you must make plays. Learn from the great collapse of 2023.

This season is the beginning of better years to come. I think they lose more 5 point games instead of being blown out and non-competitive like last year. They will still lose, but progress will be evident as we care about more games into the 4th quarter. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

Sadly, this has been the off-season refrain for a long long time now. Hopefully this is the season it actually starts to happen.

I hate to be cliché, but I really like Doug Pederson and he's already got my trust, more so than anyone since JDR. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

It's the opposite this year. Lots of positive signals emanating from this team's offseason and Pederson's pressers. It's really hard not to be on board with Pederson after the trash coaching this team has had over the years. I don't think Marrone was that bad of a coach considering he never had THE QB but Pederson is the man. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! For the life of me, I can't manage to get excited about anything yet though. I'm sure I'll get there sooner or later

This is one of the reasons I favored Pederson over Leftwich. Not that I don't think Leftwich would be a good coach in time. I think in the right situation, he will be an outstanding coach. But here in this dysfunctional situation, we needed instant credibility, competence, and confidence. Pederson has all of those characteristics. He's played in the league under greats like Holmgren and Shula. He's coached in the league under Andy Reid. When he finally got his chance to be a head coach, he won a Super Bowl. Having been a QB and learned under Shula, Holmgren and Reid as a player and coach, he is the offensive QB guru Trevor Lawrence needs, with familiarity in WCO and RPO concepts,-both of which will enhance Lawrence's game. GrantedI have not met any of the players we drafted, but in this draft class, there seems to have been a really heavy emphasis on character. Part of me thinks Pederson had some influence in that. I agree that thus far, his stint has been red flag free. Not controversial hirings of strength and conditioning coaches. No chiding from the union over practices that are too physical. No hiri bringing aboard clearly unqualified guys because he'd coached them a decade ago. Ami I sofortable with Baalke? Still no. Do I think they gave Trevor Lawrence enough help? No, Am I sold on Travon Walker? No. But I am still more confident heading into this year than I was last year by a large margin. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
