The monarch of the UK in the 20th century played a huge role in government because they appointed everyone in the House of Lords. The monarch still has that role formally, but, today it is unlikely that the monarch will veto any person recommended by the Prime Minister. In 1997 many Lords were removed and the Prime Minister got the primary power of proposing new Lords for appointment.

The last time, by my count, that the monarch played a significant role in British government was 1911. At that time the elected House of Commons was proposing increased social spending that the hereditary and appointed House of Lords didn't want. The Lords vetoed the budget and they thought this would force the Commons to compromise. It didn't. The King took the side of the Commons and chose to appoint a large number of new, Liberal Lords who would outvote those who were already there. Had the King remained passive, the road to a democratic welfare state would have been more slow and perhaps more violent. However I can not think of any more recent incident where the King or Queen's opinion mattered on a question of government.

Unfortunately she has passed away. As an Englishman I have to say what an incredible queen she has been for is, I think the none royalists in the commonwealth will grow to love her more now she is not with us, I don’t believe people realise how lucky we have been.

If they are going to broadcast the Queen's death over the next 10 days they least they could do is to turn this into a murder scandal.  I mean, Liz Truss the new Prime Minister made a speech years ago how they need to abolish the Monarch who she claimed to live the lavish life at the taxpayers expense with no real purpose to the UK Gov.    Conversely, the now King Charles and his wife always looked a little suspicious to me.  Then there is Meghan who is now living in the same city as OJ.  I mean, where was OJ when the Queen died?

“Pampered little dick”.  Sounds like a title of some sorts.  Just can’t put my finger on it.  Perhaps it’s that low budget prono about a weed smoking feller and his gal in a hot tub?  Idk.  But, I’ve heard that one before.

Apparently there was no weather Monday morning. That or traffic. But I’m glad channel 4 covered the procession and whatever it’s called. It was kinda cool to watch.

Would’ve been more of a story if she happened to pull through. I know they’re looking at ratings. But she gone. Been gone. Still gone. Hopefully they’ll be weather the rest of the week. Unless, of course, she does happen to pull through.
