The pluses and minuses of week 1
|
The OL had issues at LT, LG, and RT occasionally. C also got beat but that will happen to a rookie. The biggest issue was them passing off blockers and not working well together. Stunts were killing them with delayed pressure coming late.
Trevor looked the same as last season holding the ball way too long. Either they were calling too many deep passing routes or it is a flaw he has to fix asap. He cannot sit and hold the ball when the OL has issues. He also didn't run when the DEs were up the field. When he did scramble, he ran backwards which gives the DE an easier path to tackling him. There was no stepping up into the pocket and not enough quick passing to take advantage of them blitzing. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

I wanted to see the Jags run it more, but I get why we didn't. Both guys coming off injuries, only week 1, and the Commies have a weak secondary. Was a good test to see where TL is, it's a shame the team failed to deliver. (09-12-2022, 09:41 AM)Cleatwood Wrote: He had an average game but I was expecting more out of Josh Allen. I was expecting him to DOMINATE the Commanders Oline but he didn't. The team only had 1 sack and 4 QB hits. Need more. Definitely need more, but Hamilton was getting some pressure inside. https://twitter.com/SethWalder/status/15...2848669698 (09-12-2022, 01:50 PM)p_rushing Wrote: The OL had issues at LT, LG, and RT occasionally. Hard for him to step up in the pocket when so many times the most immediate threat from the pass rush was coming right up the middle. He obviously could have done things better on certain plays. But a defense getting a consistently heavy pass rush while only sending 4 and dropping 7 with the most intense pressure coming straight up the middle is arguably the worst case scenario for a QB. I said it earlier in the thread but the key takeaway from the game was us losing both lines of scrimmage. Our offensive line did a decent job run blocking but was manhandled in the pass game. All week we kept hearing how it would be a real challenge against their front 4. But no idea it would be as bad as it was. And on the opposite side our defensive line was fairly unimpressive aside from a handful of great plays. Couldn't muster much of a pass rush even when they blitzed. And when it counted late, they couldnt stop the run. Both sides of the line got whipped. All things considering, it's amazing the game was as competitive as it was. ________________________________________________ Scouting well is all that matters. Draft philosophy is all fluff.

Shaquille lazy cover 2 was a huge minus.
Respect the game. Play with a sense of urgency.
1.) Take care of the ball. Win the turnover battle. 2.) It's all about 3rd down. Win on 3rd down to win the game. 3.) Playmakers make plays. The only reason that you put your uniform on is to make plays. In order to EARN your paycheck, you must make plays. Learn from the great collapse of 2023.
