IMHO, they shold have gotten a bigger settlement....... We need to stop this kind of thing from happening to innocent people......

Report: Elderly Couple's Low Electric Bill Earned Them a Battering Ram to the Door - 4th Amendment Violations

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department was forced to settle with a Lake Elsinore, California, couple after raiding both of their homes without warrants.

Sheriff’s deputies allegedly smashed in the doors of the two homes on Aug. 5, 2021, on suspicion that the elderly couple was growing marijuana based on their low consumption of electricity.

Over an electric bill? God forbid you're out of town on vacation that week, miss a payment to JEA and then the following month you come home and a battering ram is used on your door.

Hope my dog or toddler aren't over by the door when it happens. This is why people get shot, whether law enforcement or not when they commit a B&E. Make no mistake about it. I don't care if you're within a lawful agreement or not with a warrant.

You're still breaking and entering into someone's home. Not knowing who is even present in that home at the time of occurrence. Just asking to get plastered by bullets or buckshot.
