MSNBC guest Jason Johnson says Republican Party is ‘dime store front for a terrorist organization'

Jason Johnson claimed GOP voters will not drop their support for former President Trump because they are in a 'cult'

MSNBC contributor Jason Johnson referred to Trump supporters as a "cult" and a cover for "a terrorist organization" on Saturday.

Johnson made these comments during the latest episode of MSNBC’s "The Cross Connection with Tiffany Cross." His point was that no matter what type of charges the Department of Justice or New York Attorney General Letitia James bring against Trump or his supporters, they are a "cult" who won’t leave him.

Social media and opinion "news" shows are why this country is dive bombing so fantastically. Opinions are not fact but most folks love an echo chamber and won't listen to anything that doesn't confirm their bias or opinion.

It's tragic.

My father is convinced that my kids will grow up under a fascist dictatorship and my father in law is convinced that my kids will grow up under communism. Guess which TV news network each one watches. And they get really upset about this stuff too. We can't really talk about it. With either of them.

Part of why I post here is to burst bubbles and show folks that the other side is not scary.  Whichever side. You don't need to be fearful of simple political ideas. Be afraid of people who stuff ballot boxes or who try to prevent people from voting. Those are the truly dangerous ideas. Other ideas aren't as dangerous because they can be voted down.

Sadly, so many people truly believe that hyperbolic fear porn. And it’s effective. The left is MasterClass at projecting. Everything they accuse the right of doing or being it actually is exactly what THEY do and are being. Nazi!! Fascist, Racist, and on and and on. But their sheep either don’t or most likely WONT see the the truth.

Sigh, once you accept ignorance as normal, then ignorance wins..

You don't need to be fearful of 'simple' political ideas that have killed hundreds of millions of people? Lol, man I wish I was as simple minded as you.

We are basically living in a fascist country right now. There are a couple exceptions, but it's closer than you think.

You don't, as long as there is a real right to vote.  No country has ever voted for communism, and none has stayed with communism after their right to vote was restored.

Well, if that's the qualifier then I guess we're screwed.

Fascism has been a bit more dangerous in history. In both Germany and Italy, most people voted against the fascists, but, because the fascists were unified and the opposition was not, the fascists were the largest party and were able to gain control of government even though they didn't have a majority. But communists have never won this way. Communists have only ever won with violence and ignoring elections.

That’s not true, Venezuela and other South American countries voted for it initially. But once you vote for it , they make sure they never lose another election

Venezuela is hard to explain.  Chavez in 1998 ran on ending corruption, and the 1999 constitution he passed is not, on its face, a communist document.   It has a guarantee of health care but nothing about economic equality or things like that.  Chavez inherited a country that was already very socialist, with so much of the economic output controlled by the federal government.  Chavez's big chance to really lock in power and destroy Venezuela's democracy and economy came in the oil strike of 2002.  He fired all the strikers and replaced them with party loyalists.  Prior to that moment, the government ownership of the economy was politically neutral.  After that moment, it became a tighter source of patronage than anything Venezuela had seen before.  Anyone who has a government job (which is a large proportion of Venezuelans) is fired if they are ever found to vote for or support the opposition.  It's obvious once you get to Maduro that Venezuelans have lost their right to meaningfully vote, but I would argue the end actually came in 2002.

L2L says we're close to fascism now. So he agrees with my crazy dad.
FSG says we need to fear a communist takeover though. So he agrees with my crazy FIL.

It doesn't matter because they see the same thing. There is a fight for power, and both sides believe that power can be levied against them. You're the one that misses the forest because all the trees are in the way.

This country is ALREADY fascist, with a few exceptions. What we are seeing is not national (which is why Republicans think it's communism), and it's not being implemented by the state, which also a key condition. However, political and economic powers are being united in the pursuit of a common vision, which is essentially fascism. The people do not have control. Most of what you think about the structure of the government and your ability to influence is an illusion. I know you don't want to acknowledge it, but it's here.

Your Father and FIL are both right... they just blame each other instead of the real culprit, and you think yourself enlightened because you can want to try to argue technicalities.

That is why the RINOs are so upset that the local level is changing with real people running. If you take over the local committees then you can control who runs for office. If you dump the RINOs, then they won't be able to push their candidates that are already bought and paid for by the uniparty.

The liberals have taken over local positions for years and now we have this world. Hopefully the people have had enough and everything changes back to the people at the local level having power.
