Through 6 weeks, the team is exactly what we expected.

And if you’re curious about tackles, Taylor has been killing it. Easily top 10. And Robinson has been performing dead middle of the pack. Any starters we try to demote will be instant trade bait. The line at every position (except centre where rookie experience has been exposed in the first graph - but I expect a number of teams would grab him in a second) is out performing a large part of the remaining league. Our line does not utterly suck. It’s a bit better than average and in three positions it is much better than average.

Lamar Jackson has thrown at least 3 INTs like that or worse this year. Yup and Mahomes just threw one exactly like it yesterday vs the Bills as well. In the red zone and threw a bad INT into the end zone. Looked just like Trevor's. All QBs make bad throws, even the best ones.

TL’s performance looks like a tear drop - fat at the bottom and narrow at the top. Mahomes is the opposite - wide at the top and thin at the bottom. You, of course, know this but without cognitive dissonance the internets would be 82% less fun (a certified fact). So, for that I thank you.
I kinda wish they hadn't won vs the bolts and clots in the fashion they did. Dominant wins gave too much hope. I think they can still be a decent 8-9ish win team this year.... that could possibly win the division. But if we're playing close games and meaningful football come November I'll be pretty happy with the season and the outlook.

Trevor Lawrence has fewer picks and has a higher completion percentage so far this year than Lamar Jackson, which should NOT be happening because, A) Trevor has less experience and is on a less talented team, and B) Lamar Jackson should know better by this point not to make game-ending throws like he did against Miami and ESPECIALLY the Giants. You're wasting your time, that Oz dude has already admitted he is/was here for only 1 person/player, not this team. He refuses to say who that person/player is, yet he continues to post. He also supported Urban Meyer and the signing of Tim Tebow so that should explain it all.
Ah, playing the man and not the ball. You’ll get beat every time doing that.

"This is the one team in this category that is truly scary. When the Jaguars are on, they look tough. The defense flies around, and the offense has an assortment of playmakers around young quarterback Trevor Lawrence. The problem is that Jacksonville isn't always on, as their current three-game losing streak attests. Verdict: PRETENDER "
I would agree with that. I don't think we're a true contender, but we play like one when we're on. We can hang with anyone in the league and that's a major improvement.
This team isn't what I expected. They are definitely better than what I thought. Record doesnt look great but they've won two blowouts and every loss came to down the last minute of the game. When they play smart and efficiently they are dominating. When they play stupid, make mistakes, have a ton of turnovers, terrible penalties, etc.. the games are coming down to the wire. This is just so different than anything we've seen in over a decade (barring that fluke championship run). Now sure maybe they just dont have the players who can play smart and efficient on a more consistent basis. Maybe they don't have players that will ever learn to be more disciplined. But I'm not sure I believe that. The core talent of this team are all guys who are really young. As they develop I think we'll see them improve in these areas. And when they do this team will make it to another level. Perhaps not super bowl level but consistently top 10 team level.
Obviously there are areas they need help. Still need a true dominant pass rusher. Walker could be that guy but just doesnt feel like it's his game. Allen probably will never become that. Could still used a deep speed WR that scares opponents. The prototypical dominant pass catching TD would do wonders for Lawrence. We just don't have many truly elite level players which we would need to make it to that super bowl level. But overall this team is better than I expected. I would be surprised if many on here thought we'd be as good as we are. They were just so awful and uncompetitive the last few seasons. ________________________________________________ Scouting well is all that matters. Draft philosophy is all fluff.

Which is really fun, because for the past 3 years, Jones did nothing to assert himself as "the man". The Gints opted against the 5th year option, so next year they have to make the choice of either moving on, tagging him for 30-ish mill, or giving him a long term deal in the hopes that it wasn't a one-year anomaly. Can't say I envy their position, thinking in the long term. (10-17-2022, 10:55 PM)Kane Wrote: I kinda wish they hadn't won vs the bolts and clots in the fashion they did. But if we're playing close games and meaningful football come November I'll be pretty happy with the season and the outlook. Think about the difference in those two wins vs. the losses - sacks and turnovers. That's what has to change for us to break the streak of losses. We were chaotic D with players flying to the ball. Suddenly, we're leaving guys open and giving up yards with consistency. I'm fine with us winning the way we did - it showed us the potential of the team. We aren't deep enough on either side of the ball to make that the norm, but as we continue to build (not blow up and start over yet again) we'll see those close losses start changing to close wins, at the very least. We gotta force mistakes when the opposing offense is on the field, though . (10-18-2022, 12:17 AM)jrvegeeta Wrote:(10-17-2022, 10:39 PM)OzJohnnie Wrote: The best ones also make good throws. It's uncanny.

The giants and Jones may do just enough to make the playoffs and even win a game or two. And they may fall in the same trap we did by extending Bortles. It's hard for them to know though because he hasn't had a good oline or pass catchers. They have also had a lot of injuries on the offense side of the ball including Jones. If our offensive game plan was like the Giants we would be 5-1 as well
The Jags are a Pro Bowler or two away from a playoff run. Not sure if they can get even one in this season.
