We just ran that gameplan and got beat by the colts due to our defense

Well, that would be our only loss...

Which is really fun, because for the past 3 years, Jones did nothing to assert himself as "the man". The Gints opted against the 5th year option, so next year they have to make the choice of either moving on, tagging him for 30-ish mill, or giving him a long term deal in the hopes that it wasn't a one-year anomaly.

Can't say I envy their position, thinking in the long term.

He doesn't have to be "the man" if you have a really good run game and defense. It's hard for them to know though because he hasn't had a good oline or pass catchers.  They have also had a lot of injuries on the offense side of the ball including Jones.  If our offensive game plan was like the Giants we would be 5-1 as well
You don’t actually believe that do you?

You think the Jags would be 5-1 if they played like the Giants?

The Giants defense at least forced critical turnovers when needed, so I personally think we would have the Texans and colts game in our pockets if so.

Put Daniel Jones on this team and they’re 0-6.

How did you get to that point bud? Is that anywhere close to what I was saying?

Daniel Jones isn’t good. Trevor was very good against the Colts (both games) and Chargers. I can get behind the Giants having an opportunistic defense but that usually doesn’t translate season to season or game to game (See Jags the last few weeks).  Daboll is coaching his butt off essentially hiding Jones all game (170 passing yards per game). They’ve hung around and hung around the last few games and allowed the other team to make a mistake and they pounce. Good on them but I don’t think their success is sustainable with Jones. If they get a legit QB? Watch out.

Daniel Jones would make the Jaguars offense worse. He’s not an accurate QB. He’s essentially Bortles.

If Jones has a 2017 Bortles-esque season and they extend him, it will end up EXACTLY the same as it did for the Jags.

I mean if they’re as good as you think, why are the Jags 3 point favorites against a 5-1 team?

All I know is the one game I watched the Giants Dallas beat them up pretty bad. They did that by smothering the run game and making Jones try to pass.

Disagree here. Hes accurate by even todays standard of 65+. Bortles was hard pressed for 60
Agree with everything else. The Giants are not beating themselves, well coached but I dont think they have the talent to keep this up.

You say Daboll is hiding him but tell me who the hell is he going to throw too?  Jones has 24 TDs and 12 Ints as a rookie.  These last few years he has had one of the worst online and WR corps in the league.

Yeah Daniel Jones appears to have turned the corner to me. Sometimes patience pays off.

Coaching helps.  People last year bashed our coaching staff and said he was a big reason for Trevs failures and I agree.  Yet Jones has never had good coaching, oline, or WRs.  The talent is there

This team hasnt lost by more than 8 points which is awesome. The depressing part is our qb still looks lost most of the time. Hes a bit better than last year which was obvious with the coaching change but its not enough.

People literally said this about Bortles.

If the Giants extend Jones, it’ll be a massive mistake.
