Snoop Connor

#61

Does anybody know if he's been activated and coming across the pond this Sunday? We keep seeing some of that wildcat stuff with Etienne. They might have some opportunities with Snoop as a lead blocker or an option with his size. I want to be optimistic. At some point they have to try and get him involved.

You traded up to get him and you shipped Robinson off. Would have to imagine he's in the offensive gameplan this Sunday or next Sunday at the minimum.

Does it not say something that our 5th round RB can't even see the field on special teams from week to week? Are the coaches oblivious to what he shows in practice?

So yeah, feel free to explain. why does it matter if he's active or not? He's a non-factor.

Ok, our backup oline was so bad in preseason you couldn't get an accurate evaluation on him.  With our starting oline we can see what we have.  We have had 3 backs active on GameDay and now with JRob gone he needs to be active so we can see what we have.  He is our 5th round pick rookie so we need to see what we have behind our starting oline

I guess I'm a fool for thinking he's getting practice reps behind our starters/current linemen and not doing enough to avoid the healthy scratch every Sunday.

Whether he's active or not probably don't mean a hill of beans.

I highly doubt our 3rd or 4th string back is getting reps with the starters, there's just not enough practice reps to do that.  It would of tough trying to split JRob and Etieene first team reps.  If he's a good player it will mean a hill of beans, you have no clue, we need to find out. You need 3 backs active on GameDay

Hasty is ETN's backup. Snoop is RB3.

You don't see them much anymore, but I still think there's a place for a good FB on a team.

Pederson has used his TEs - other RBs - and additional linemen as lead blockers / de facto fullbacks quite a bit this season.

I like having a FB, but with this coach's offensive philosophy, it a'int gonna happen.

Agreed. I wonder if we'll ever see a return, almost in a retro since, of big bruising football with a stacked backfield as the NFL standard once again.

When it's less common to see 4,000 - 5,000 yard passers and more 1,300 - 1,500 yard rushers across the board. I miss that kind of football. Back when it was cool to run it and then sneak in a bomb every once in awhile or a play action pass for a big gain.

Bal., Tampa , SF, Pittsburgh. HOU etc.  A lot of teams still use a FB.  They're not used as much as they used too.  He'll, the last time we used one we were 5 min from the SB and the number 1 run team in the league.  Our run game would potentially be the best in the league if we had a FB imo.  This oline is built to run the football

The issue is you can't have a one-dimensional FB anymore, because then he basically becomes another offensive lineman/blocking TE and limits the creativity of the offense.

Now a guy with a skill set like Kyle Juszczyk would probably work, and I could easily see Pederson still using that type of player in multiple formations including say as wideback or not inline TE.

But he would need to be found in the offense have a package dedicated to using his versatility and blocking to justify him taking a roster spot.

Correct

If you replaced a guy like Manhertz with a skilled blocker/ H-Back type, a FB  could work on this roster.

I still wager it never happens on a Pederson roster though.
Not his style.

I would love to have a Patrick Ricard type of FB. 6’3” and 306 lbs of pure muscle that can run.

Meh.  He's one of the most over-rated Jaguars of all time.  He didn't do squat running or receiving the ball.  As for blocking, he was fine, but blocking fullbacks are a dime a dozen.  When he got injured, we picked up a street free agent and didn't lose a beat.  In fact, Fred Taylor went to his only pro-bowl that season.

Look at the pads the guys wear today vs. back then and you'll see why it's basketball on grass

Fua'matu-Ma'afala was one of my faves too. I wish he was on the team just so we could hear Mumbles Frangie try to pronounce his name fast.
