wait till end of year. Are you thinking any of the underlings to Caldwell are some magician that are suddenly going to get these guys in the QB's faces and Caldwell has been turning his head away from any input those coaches are attempting to share?

I don't know if he should go or stay. Frankly, I think who's on the field matters a whole lot more than who's saying blitz, cover, or will out.

No. All things being equal, I'd prefer a 50 something year old Wayne Weaver. But I don't think Shad is a bad owner per se, I think he's mostly good for Jax but he's lousy at finding a quality GM.

....did you think Weaver was any better? Coughlin, Shack, Gene?

This tweet needs to be posted in the locker room. Just to let the defense know how trash they are and how bad Caldwell is at his job.

i was talking to my brother who is a chiefs fan , and even he agreed that no team should be able to score on all possessions. it is ridiculous. i think not having Shaq is hurting us. even if he was borderline average still better than tre and williams have been.

I was thinking that most teams should score on all possessions but now that your brother, the chiefs fan, states no team should be able to score on all possessions, I'm going to have to change my mind.

If his brother was a punter in HS, I am gonna discredit his claim as obviously biased.

Anyone hear the Mike Caldwell presser? When asked about how he's going to fix the pass rush issues, he basically said that they were planning to 'go out and practice pass rushing'. Which leads to the obvious question, have they not been practicing it up till now? Even the coachspeak was bad. I hate to say this about a 1st yr coordinator, but maybe this job was too much at this point in his career.

Say you're trying some new formations, new blitz packages...even if you aren't. Anything else would sound better than what he said, which was basically that they are sticking with what they are already doing.

And then next week you'll be "But he TOLD us he wuz gonna try something ELSE!!!!"

It's a press conference, nothing they say there matters a lick.

Yes by and large he was better. I'd take that 90s team or even the inconsistent Del Rio teams over anything we've experienced lately. Yeah, 17 was fun but a fluke.

I would do anything to go back to the Del Rio years.  Those were physical teams that could dominate the line of scrimmage.  And we had a 3-4 year stretch where we had a great defense.  Unfortunately we just didnt have a QB good enough to put us over the top first with Leftwich and then Garrard.  And then all those poor drafts just really started to pile up by then end of his tenure.  I'm sure Del Rio deserves some of the blame for that but hard to know how much influence he had.

With Pederson and Lawrence it's very possible this team is on the verge of, at the minimum, having a nice little stretch like that. What really did that era in was James Harris going for broke with Derrick Harvey and Quentin Groves in one draft class and the drafting of Leftwich.

That era was so desperate to make it's own mark, to leave it's thumbprint on the franchise and city that they really didn't give most of the holdovers a chance. Brunell had one more good year left in the tank. He proved that with Joe Gibbs in Washington by leading them into a play off appearance.

Not only that, but, they completely snubbed David Garrard's development and he was more than capable of being a solid QB, if not, better than Leftwich had he been given a fair shake for the starting job in 2003, 2004. Worst case scenario? You're looking at Eli Manning, Philip Rivers or Ben Roethlisberger in that draft class after a bad year.

Passing on Terrell Suggs, with a defensive minded coach at the time, pretty mind blowing really.

I agree especially when you consider that Lefty had the *potential* to be a pro-bowler if he'd put the work in. He had the talent around him too. He just had a little to much arrogance, I remember once in his rookie year him saying he didn't have much to learn because he'd basically seen it all already at Marshall. Dude did have some talent though. Those *could* have been great teams. Garrard was kind of the opposite, he got a lot out of his talent but just wasn't naturally as gifted throwing the ball. I respect Garrard so much more because he seemed to really work for it.

Those defenses were indeed terrific.

Yes. I liked his approach. Maybe get an experienced d coordinator. How about Zimmerman? Anyone that has a proven track record at calling successful blitzing for once. No gus Bradley type though. Please and no thanks.

Yes. Shaq should be out there. Even if he sucked some of the time, he is still the second or third best cb on this team. Is he still "hurt?"

Cullen was also a 1st time D coordinator when he was here. He just got better as the season progressed.

The first half was shaky but the D showed up in the 2nd half. Especially after the Trevor fumble when 1:26 was left on the clock, we got the ball back at 1:13. That’s good stuff.

What’s your opinion on Caldwell now?

I'd like to see what he does with a year under his belt and hopefully with another good corner and a DT who disrupts pockets.
