Playoff Ponderings
|
Not sure I particularly care how it happens, but we just need to be 2 back with 2 to play. Week 17 we play Houston and they play Dallas. Best chance to pick up a game in the next three weeks. And then obviously if we'd be 1 back going into last game of the year, it's winner take all. But for the next two weeks we just need to match the Titans. They go 2-0 we have to go 2-0. They go 1-1, we can go 1-1. They go 0-2, then hopefully we'd have already picked up a game somewhere.
Beating Dallas this week would be huge but as long as the Titans lose to the chargers, we're still good. ________________________________________________ Scouting well is all that matters. Draft philosophy is all fluff. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Man that week 1 drop by Etienne on 4th and goal hurts, along with the Lawrence interception in the redzone, and Walker’s penalty.
If we can make the playoffs then I will forgive all.
On Point 1. This team has shown no penchant for doing well with high level draft picks. We will do just as well mid-round as we would top of round. I think it maybe more beneficial for them to have to work harder and lean on scouting and letting the draft develop as opposed to trying to set the draft from the top.
On Point 2. We need to lock it in and win the division. In a season of mediocre football, there are lots of opportunity but you have to get the division. The wild card spots are being picked at with teams with better records from stronger divisions. The way I see the team making hay is to win out, get the division and let it rip in the playoffs.

We are getting HOT towards the end of the season. It is good to be playing like this late in the year/early next year. If we do make it in, we might make some waves.
Giving this thread a bump. The Jags are in a solid spot right now regarding playoff contention, after today's win against Dallas. If the Chargers beat the Titans today that will definitely help. I think that the Jags could win their next two games against the Jets/Texans, though they of course need to play smart and be careful and not let either team upset them. The Jags have won 4 of their last 6 games, while both of Jets/Texans are on losing streaks of at least 3+wins. I wouldn't want to see either team get an upset over the Jags. It will be interesting if the Jags win their next two games before going into their second faceoff with Titans in their final regular season game. The Titans losing at least two of their last games could definitely help the Jags as well.
