This game is more important than the Dallas game.

About a week ago, I was confident Dallas could take care of Tennessee and enable us to catch the Tacks by week 18.

But given that we beat Dallas, the dynamic may have changed considerably.

Having lost to us, thereby losing a game to the Eagles, there is almost no chance for them to catch the Eagles and win their division, even if they beat Philly this weekend.  Furthermore, they are far enough ahead of the bottom two wild card teams they likely can't/won't be caught.  Being pretty much locked into the 5th seed, there arguably isn't much outward incentive for which to play.  They could end up using those last two weeks to get healthy for the playoffs.  If so, Tennessee's chances of winning that game improves.

To avoid all of that, we've got to win on Thursday.

Eagles are a totally different team without Hurts. His threat to run every play is massive and he has big arm whereas Minshew has a noodle arm.

Cowboys game will be tough. Then they play NO the next week on Sunday and the Cowboys play Thursday night. So if Cowboys beat the Eagles Sunday, they will be playing hard Thursday because the division could still be up for grabs.

I do however think this game Thursday is massive.

There likely will be SOME drop off.  Hurts has had a helluva year so far.  But Minshew is capable of some very good play at the position.  As Jaguars fans, we've all seen it with our own eyes.  With those receivers he has up there, Minshew should give them some quality play.  Dallas better get that pass rush going and find a CB opposite Diggs if they hope to beat the Eagles.

Oh this game just turned into a huge game. Thursday games are always a wildcard, short week, late in the season, I usually give the edge to the home team purely because they have the home field advantage.

I'm hoping the confidence and belief from yesterday and the last few weeks can give us the boost we need for the short week. The Jets lost a tough one to the Lions yesterday and looks like it will be Zach Wilson again. There seemed to be some arguing between the WR's and Wilson yesterday so hopefully they aren't all on the same page.

We played @ the Jets last year on Boxing Day and lost 26-21 with Wilson having that absurd, slowest ever 52yd run TD. 

Payback is on the menu

The wild card is extremely unlikely for us.  The thing you have to remember is that if we win all 3 remaining games, the Jaguars are guaranteed to win the division.  The wild card only comes into play if the Jaguars lose a game.  That means they would have a maximum of 8 wins and it will be tough to make the wild card with 8 wins.  Baltimore already has 9 and the Chargers/Dolphins already have 8.  To start, we would need either the Chargers or the Dolphins to lose all three of their remaining games.  The Chargers play three weak teams so that's unlikely.  The Dolphins are more possible, but if they lose all three, it means the Jets and Patriots win another game which puts them at 8 wins as well.  Those two teams would then need to go 0-2 in their other games.  You also have the Raiders, Browns and Steelers with 6 wins.  If any of those teams go 3-0, then they are a lock over us as well.  If the Browns or Steelers go 2-1, it comes down a tie breaker.  I believe we are mathematically still alive for the wild card, but it would take an awful lot of games going the right direction for it to happen.  For all practical purposes, it is division winner or bust.

That doesn’t mean there’s not a huge drop off from Hurts to Minshew. Again, they still might win against the Saints and Giants but their offense won’t be a juggernaut like they have been. Hurts has been hitting a ton of deep shots to Smith and AJB. Minshew won’t do that.  They won’t be able to run those RPOs. They likely won’t be as aggressive on 4th down. Their offense can’t be run the same because Minshew can’t run or throw like Hurts.

I swear half this message board reads my post, has short term memory loss and pretends I said something completely different. When I say "I don't see a HUGE dropoff" some how you boys just completely deleted the word "huge" and pretend I said there wont be any drop off. 

Minshew is not Jalen Hurts obviously but we've seen him play pretty good football with absolutely nothing around him. I'd bet he has some pretty good games with this offense. I mean, even last year he had 4 tds 1 turnover in his 2 starts for the Eagles. And that's without AJ Brown and a rookie Devonta Smith. Jalen Hurts had 16 TDs last year in the other 15 games. Also if you don't think AJ Brown is making Hurts 10x better of a QB you're crazy, look at Tannehill with and without Brown, dudes the best WR in football.

I think the Eagles are overrated. They've only beaten 3 teams with a winning record (Vikings, Cowboys and Giants) everyone else has a losing record. They barely beat Chicago, Barely beat the Colts, the Jags gave them the ball FIVE times and still they only managed to get 1 score on them (TD + 2pt). They beat the cards by 3, damn near lost to the Lions before they were good.

Not saying they are not a good team, but I don't think they are the best team in Football, nor do I think they are the best team in the NFC.

I personally hope Minshew does play and tears it up. I like him, not more than Trevor, but I do like him and I think if the Jets were to pick him up or the 9ers, they would be scary good.
