I liked Vic and I miss his get off my lawn takes. Oesher hasn’t come close to filling his shoes. One thing Vic said that I believed at the time but I’ve since found to be false is the extent to which coaching matters. He said at one point that NFL coaches are interchangeable and that talent eventually wins out if not immediately. I think you can throw Meyer out as “not an NFL coach” so I don’t mean to contrast him with Doug here as an example, but I’ve watched football long enough to see successful coaches like Doug change franchises and and still have success with new rosters. One instance isn’t enough to make that argument, but I’ve seen similar instances like that enough to know that although coaching may not necessarily trump talent, it certainly has more impact than Vic suggested. I think if I had to assign percentages, I came away from Vic thinking that 90% of what contributed to consistent winning teams was talent and the other 10% was coaching. I think that’s probably more 70/30ish in reality though. And there aren’t 32 really good NFL head coaches so they aren’t, in fact, interchangeable. Case in point regarding talent/coaching, Belichick is without question one of the greatest coaches ever and can’t at the moment overcome the talent deficit within his division, so talent clearly still matters a good bit. Sorry to derail, but these thoughts had been on my mind recently with regards to Vic. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Broken teeth aside, there's a boatload of tickets for sale on the after market for this game. Hope we don't see a wave of charger fans show up for this game. We need to fill it up with Jags fans again.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

There’s still non-after market seats available in the 400s. See a lot of people on social media lamenting not being able to make it for one reason or another. I just watched a news4jax news clip on youtube talking about prepping for the game. The lady said the average cost for airfare, a hotel room for Friday and Saturday night, and tickets to the game range from $2200-2800. I don't know if that counts for meals and game day transportation or for how many people. That's insane regardless. I wouldn't drop that on a wild card game. Then again prices are only going to go up we head deeper into post season.
I thought about folks who have VRBO and Airbnb in the county. Good grief they could make a killing. My brother has considered renting out his house the next time the US Open comes to Pinehurst. I know others who make an absolute killing renting out their house just for that event.
My biggest concern on defense is Keenan Allen vs Trey Herndon. Jags defense vs RBs in the passing game is 2nd best in the league so hopefully that trend continues.

Sorry to hear about the tooth wolfie. I will watch your hype video but have to ? the slogan attempt. Not everyone is a Dewey Wingard.
Respect the game. Play with a sense of urgency.
1.) Take care of the ball. Win the turnover battle. 2.) It's all about 3rd down. Win on 3rd down to win the game. 3.) Playmakers make plays. The only reason that you put your uniform on is to make plays. In order to EARN your paycheck, you must make plays. Learn from the great collapse of 2023.
For those attending, are they doing any special fan items like the towel last week?

While we're at it, no chewing electrical cords this weekend, either! ![]()
Today is Thursday. The game is Saturday. I see a lot of seats for sale on Ticketmaster. It won't be like last Saturday. We're going to have some empty seats. I'm wondering if it might be weather-related. It's going to be pretty cold.

It was pre-darft, and the gist of his thought was that if you either didn't see him as generational talent, or figured you could get a similar guy that year or soon after, you do the deal if some team offers you an RGIII package to move up. I think the key though was that if you don't have any doubt that he is going to be the man, you'd be hard pressed to find a deal sweet enough to move you off the pick.

This go round, 2 tix in 411 upper deck for $380. Those same seats in 232 are $300 each vs. $125 against the tacks.

If I remember correctly, he acted as if the Jags would be stupid not to trade that TLaw pick for a king's ransom, and the team that we needed to trade that pick to was the Panthers - his new home team. He was completely FOS on that one. |
