Consistency isn't as important as quality. I'd rather see cap space spent on decent offensive linemen over backup quarterbacks that offer nothing of significance. By definition quality is consistent or it is not quality. As for the offensive line, just wait they will begin to fix it this year. Doug wanted to last year but the way things broke it wasn't in the cards so they did what they could. I did enjoy the results of that.

LOLOLOLOLOLOL You are overreacting to a basic offseason move that won't hinder any such fictional signing. If they needed Bethard's measly salary to get a quality lineman over one who could get Trevor's knee blown out, they can just cut Bethard and look to the late rounds or UDFA. That won't happen, because they aren't going to sign any big FA OLs, and they can clear space in half a dozen other places as evidenced by the Oluokun restructuring. Besides, they already have three O-Linemen that could get Trevor's knee blowout at the drop of a hat as it is.

You're just mad about nothing because you think $2m will sign a top OL FA or something.. That isn't happening. If money is the difference in whether a player could get injured or not, why did the guy who's making $16m this year be the one who let Trevor almost get his knee blown out? They should have went with somebody a lot cheaper (Little).
Got to give Baalke some credit. Restructuring Oloukon, resign RHH and Hasty and put us in a much better cap situation. Cut Griffin and we are under cap. Still need to resign Engram and can't see us keeping Taylor but a few more moves like we have done and we have kept a lot of last years team and have some space to add to the roster.

No way they keep Taylor (I wouldn't) unless he takes a major pay cut to stay. He's going to get PAID on the open market. Let him walk and we should get a 3rd, or 4th round comp pick for him. We likely get a comp pick for Key if he walks as well. (02-28-2023, 12:19 AM)Eric1 Wrote:(02-28-2023, 12:10 AM)JagFan81 Wrote: Got to give Baalke some credit. Thats been my thinking with Taylor. We can't pay anywhere near what he would get if he went to FA and while he says he would like to stay, OL gets massively overpaid in FA and I see no difference with Taylor. I'd like to keep Key if we could but think it would depend if they try and do more restructurings. They seem to have a plan for the cap which is a pleasant surprise but if we cut Griffin we are around $5m under the cap I think so still need more for Engram. He'll likely get some good offers on the open market as well. (02-28-2023, 12:32 AM)Eric1 Wrote:(02-28-2023, 12:27 AM)JagFan81 Wrote: Thats been my thinking with Taylor. There are a few teams that are going to have to make quite a few cuts to get under the cap but a lot of teams with plenty to spend and you can never have enough good pass rushers. I'm waiting to see what they offer/pay Engram but I'm holding out hope that if Key hits FA he maybe doesn't get that big offer and we can bring him back. Can't see it happening but I can hope! I'm sure it is a matter of time. He was a solid cb. I have to guess that he could have really been hurt. I know a lot of people got upset about him being burnt, and I understand that, but it’s hard to believe he fell off that fast. He looked decent in the season before. Who knows.
