2023 Offseason Roster Moves

Now that Henry is being shopped around, could you imagine having him with this lineup too? ETN, Hasty, and Henry would be madness but it would take lots of money to get him here and there's bigger holes to fill

Lol, we would be the last team they would trade Henry too.  Would be crazy though

The odds of them doing so with the 24th overall selection or him falling to us with the 56th overall selection seem slim to none.

I think they have to start doing what the better teams do and that's get the heavy guys with light feet early and often on both sides of the football. It's all about trench warfare for us this off season. Whatever it takes to protect the QB and attack the QB is what needs to be on the table business wise and inside the war room.

If he's 6'4+ and tipping at least 275+ on defense or close to 300+ on offense? And you can move with reach? You're Baalke's guy. I will be stunned if the 24th overall pick and 56th overall pick go to any position outside of OT/OG/DE/DT.
Disagree with the first paragraph.  Washington is right up Baalke and Dougs alley, i could see both loving him as our pick.  He is an extra lineman out there and very in play at 24 imo.  I think we get one of Washington, Breese, Witherspoon or Torrence.

I could see Foskey a possibility as well

Thoughts on TE Brate most likely being released by the Bucs . . .
Jaguar since Day One . . . attended Hall of Fame Preseason Opener.

I remember hearing either thru the media or in these forums that tagging might only be a temporary measure to retain him until a longer term contract can be achieved for maybe even less money than the franchise tag would allow in the 1st year.  I don't know much about this, but it would be good to have him here longer term on a contract, yes?  Input welcome, cause I don't know the ins and outs of this.

Yes, I still think it's probable that they agree to a long term contract.  It's also likely that contract would include a signing bonus which would lower the salary cap hit in 2023.

Regarding this one, NBC Sports Edge is claiming the team is still 8 million over the cap after this release.

They should be 8 million UNDER after his release.
Black Jaguar: Yeah, it's a thing.

Brandon Scherff is no longer that dude.   Next season I want him gone.

Either sports edge is wrong or the poster misread it. The Jags are 8 million under at the moment.

They were wrong. Said this:

Jaguars released CB Shaquill Griffin.

Griffin played two seasons in Jacksonville, recording zero interceptions in 19 starts. Releasing Griffin, 27, will save the team $13.1 million in salary cap space. Jacksonville remains about $8 million over the cap, and will be forced to make more moves to get under the cap by next week. Griffin, meanwhile, should receive some interest as a free agent.

I think they are $8 million under the cap after releasing Griffin.

Jacksonville Jaguars Salary Cap | Over the Cap

According to OverTheCap, the Jags are $5 million over the cap with Griffin still on the team (see link above), and releasing him would save $13 million, so that nets out to $8 million under.

Zach Allen (Cardinals) is free. Would be a nice addition and shouldn't break the bank.

I don't know much about the guy except that in a 4-year career at DE, he has 11.5 total sacks.

I can see why he wouldn't break the bank, but why do you think he would be a nice addition?

The Jags have pretty much had a smooth start to the offseason by getting under the cap and tagging Engram. The tag will get both sides time to work out a deal later on. They will most likely rework Oluokun and Kirk to move some money around so we can snag a vet or 2.

Just waiting to see what they will do with Taylor. And I’m still keeping my eye on Swagnew.

True. I like how much they cleared up and keeping most of the continuity around.

I think they already restructured Oluokun, Zay, Kirk, and Scherff. Could be wrong. I think the fun part would be Cam Robinson's contract.
