He's a petty dude. Yet even your article states that the White House was not making any specific plans for those programs. It was the director of the Peace Corps that sent that memo, not DJT.

After doing some digging, it looks like those programs were cut, but not because of any specific plans to cut them. Looks like the Trump administration made broad cuts to the Peace Corps, USAID, and State Department. I mean, it's clear you have no problem attributing all fo the world's ills to DJT, but he has people who do this [BLEEP] for him, and then, once there's budget cuts, directors have to make tough calls. I know from everything that I have looked at, I didn't find any definitive proof that this was a call made by Trump. That CNN article you linked certainly didn't make that case. Politifact couldn't make that case. 

It just seems like you are happy to present possibilities as if they are facts. Since it's not something you can KNOW it's a fact, doesn't that make you a liar based on that claim?

You know, like most black folks who supported Trump were paid. Did he pay for the black male vote as well? Because that increased by 6% while he was in office. He gained 5% among Hispanic women, too... that sure must have cost him a lot of money. Wonder if he used campaign funds to pay for all that. Hope so, or we can send him to jail.

I have no problem with this, except that Soros has an anti-American agenda, which has come out of his own mouth. He used to be considered a coward and a radical. What the Kochs do is not relevant to my point.  Some democrats pronounce their names as a curse the same way Republicans do to Soros.  It's engaging the amygdala either way, a dirty trick.  Nothing more than calling for us to hate Goldstein for two minutes. They don't ever mention his alleged desire to reduce American strength because they don't want to engage that part of our brains.

I've indeed had some rough patches that made me feel inferior, but that's all way in the rear view.  I've found my place and found my people.  I never think about inferior or superior anymore. I still have things I need to work on but they're rarely overwhelming.  It's all managing my emotions.  Sense the outburst coming before it comes, channel it into productive words before it takes over.  It's hard but I think I can do it.

You have things you need to work on too.  Having to listen to people talk about things you feel like you know more about is just part of life. You won't be able to avoid it.

Anyhow, I hope your ex husband has surfaced from that midlife crisis and is able to say the same.

Facts not in evidence. Even if we take the bolded as gospel, does reducing the average sentence for assault from (making up numbers here) 10 years to 5 years make America more or less competitive on the world stage? Businesses might have spend more on private security and relocate themselves further from high crime areas, but on the other hand with fewer people in jail, there is less government spending, less debt, and more workers.
Personally I'm not sure how I feel about criminal justice reform. I know I want to see abuses involving civil forfeiture and plea bargains to stop. And some sentences are too long but others are too short. But all of that is besides the point. Neither side of any of those issues is "anti-American". How would you feel if I took your 7.9 million proposal and labeled it "anti-American"? Exactly.
It's not like he's trying to get us to cancel our military or sell our launch codes to China.

I think in these debates, I am more headstrong than insecure. I do have insecurities, but they don't really manifest themselves on message boards. It's more a problem irl. I come from a pretty white trash upbringing, and that's not easy to shed. What's that old saying? You can take the man out of the ghetto, but you can't take the ghetto out of the man? Sure, it's classist/racist or whatever, but there's some truth to it. It's hard to shed that mentality. I don't want to shed it. So, I think I have a tendency to show my insecurities when I get around people who were raised in upper middle class/upper class pretty quickly. I tend to become the smartest man in the room real quickly. I hate it. Even when I know I'm doing it, I can't stop.

I'm a WYSIWYG kind of person. I'm who I am. When someone asks me how I'm doing I don't put on a smile and say, "I'm good" if I'm not. I may not going into detail but I'm not going to pretend.

The biggest problem with having conversations like we have here is they're just words. There is no voice inflection or facial expression or anything else to give context to how we are actually saying what we're saying. That can be misleading but in a way that is unavoidable.

The few times I met folks from here at Jags events back in the day (around 2006-2007 timeframe) it was really cool to actually meet face to face and talk to each other. It was like talking to people I'd never interacted with before.

It would certainly be interesting to get together with the current crew. Speaking of.... where's Jags? I haven't seen him around.

I think people who post on this message board are like most people- there is very little attempt to understand why someone else feels the way they do, except for the purpose of finding a weakness in the other person.   It's comforting to think "I am right and everyone else is wrong."  And to that end, we actively reinforce our own views, which is just mental masturbation.  

The one thing that does irritate me is the drive-by insults- people just popping into the conversation to insult someone, and that's all they do.  That's just weak.  I also think that when someone accuses someone else of "acting superior," they are projecting their own self-image into the other person's head.  You think he's "acting superior" because you feel inferior.  

But we're just like the rest of society right now- we've all got our fists up, defending our point of view with no attempt to understand things from the point of view of the other person.

I am going to try to graduate to the level of the curious person and not the defensive person.  It might not fit very well around here, but I'm going to give it a shot.

Would you quit whining already? You've made it abundantly clear that you despise Trump and his voters. Did you ever stop and think that maybe some people don't like being talked down to? Made to feel inferior because of our choice of candidate? 

It's like we're labeled 'Far Right' because of our choice in Trump. Like we want to go out and just destroy people and things because we don't see eye to eye. So we're already thought upon as scum and trash in most people's eyes who don't agree with our choice. But, do you see it bothering me? In truth, it does a little bit. But not to the point of wanting a civil war over it.
