All that said, I am all for Trevor earning more than Hurts ASAP.

He bought the Franchise for $770m and it's worth $2.3b now. I get it, it's only part of his worth, but him buying the team put him into an Elite club of 32 that basically lets them print $$ every year. A huge reason why his total net worth has gone up, up and will continue to go up.

Obviously his Bumper Empire plays a role as well, but we all know NFL is king.

He’s a top 6-10 QB being paid like the number 1. It won’t look so bad after Burrows and Herbert break the bank. I think he’s reached his peak as a runner. His mobility will decline. Will he continue to grow as a passer?

• do the eagles get back into the SB again while he's under contract?
  
• if injuries alter his mobility before the deal is up, can he still win games passing the football?

What are they supposed to do? People are applauding the Ravens for standing their ground and thats great..... Until they go 6-11 with Tyler Huntley and they're looking for a new QB.

Every new QB contract will be the "biggest contract in NFL history" from now on. Herbert next, then Burrow and then Trevor. It's just how it goes.

Every new QB contract will be the "biggest contract in NFL history" from now on. Herbert next, then Burrow and then Trevor. It's just how it goes.

Rules changes over the past 2 decades have gradually magnified the importance of the QB from an already high level to "you simply aren't going to win sustainably without a good one." 

There are usually only about a dozen or so of these upper tier QBs in the league at one time. So the teams that have a chance to keep one are the most viable contenders and must pay dearly to keep them. 

The deals will grow to a breaking point until the league tries to cap them in a CBA eventually.

No. Especially for the way he plays and the way in which Sirianni enables him to be used offensively. He missed two games last year due to injury. He's clearly a running QB. With 165 rushing attempts last year I would be concerned for the long term with his durability and this contract. 

At some point. Teams will figure out a way to hinder him in the ground game and force him to beat them from the pocket. That offensive line they have at the moment is top shelf talent wise but you can't hold onto that power five forever and all it takes is one or two of those guys leaving or retiring and the party could very well be over.

Yeah. The NFL has to figure it out here soon. I know technically the cap doesn't have a "ceiling" because it's all based on revenue shares, however, good luck having a solid overall product out there when your QB is eating up close to 40% or more of your salary cap and the offensive line play has deteriorated to the point where the QB plays like a mid-level QB.

....unless of course the cap keeps growing and growing, then they maybe don't end up painted into a corner.

backloading might also quell the call for a renegotiation early (imagine a top QB earning ~20M salary (and $25M prorated signing bonus) in those later years, as opposed to one earning $40M and $5M prorated) - cap hits are the same for the year, but one keeps the QB happier longer.

Unless the later years are fully guaranteed, I'm shocked that he signed a deal for such a small signing bonus. Usually the upfront cash makes up for the uncertainty to come years down the road.
