I had the game on at work yesterday but couldn't pay close attention much of the time.
I'll post comments after rewatching.
A few things though -
Abdullah hasn't put anyone on notice yet, but if he does it would be Chaisson, not Walker.
We are more likely to replace CJ with Rourke than to deal Rourke away IMO. We signed him to a 3 year deal when we brought him in.
Defensively - our LBs, nickels, and safeties absolutely have to get better at defending the middle of the field.
CJ is on a 2 year deal. Usually the player with more years left is more valuable on the trade market, all else being equal, right?
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.

A. No one is trying to trade for either of these guys as of now, so comparing their trade value is premature. It's unlikely either draw that kind of attention unless 16 NFL starting QBs die in a plane crash on their way to Peyton Manning's birthday party in Bermuda.
B. If Rourke somehow shows out enough in preseason for a team to offer a pick for him, the Jags could take the pick - or keep Rourke while cutting Beathard, this saving money as Rourke is on a cheaper deal. They are a winner in either scenario, but this whole concept of trading a backup QB is an exercise in counting those proverbial unborn chickens.

Beathard signed a 2 year contract with the Jaguars back in February of this year. Rourke is also on a 2 year contract. Beathard will cost the Jaguars $2,080,000 in 2023, Rourke will cost them $751,666.
In 1996 the Jaguars signed Andre Rison to a 3 year contract and he was cut after 10 weeks into the season.
Jacksonville signed Derrick Harvey to a 5 year contract and he was cut after 3 seasons.
If the guy behind you is better, the contract doesn’t protect you. Your only hope is they trade that better player to another team.
I disagree with Chaisson being on notice because he will be cut even if Abdullah didn’t get any sacks. Allen led the team in sacks so that leaves Walker as the guy who could lose playing time to Abdullah or could force Walker to move inside.
Walker has 3.5 more sacks than me.

Trust me Walker isn't being put on notice by Abdullah and he certainly isn't going to lose playing time to Abdullah. I made it a point to try and watch Abdullah every snap he was out there. It wasn't that impressive by any means. He looked like exactly what he is, an undersized 5th round rookie who needs A LOT of work/time.

Congrats, I could pick out 3-4 plays of Blaine Gabbert as a jaguar that'd make him look good too. Trevor will be fine, but go back and watch all his plays at Clemson and you'll see that those 4 plays you showed are complete outliers. Go back and watch his rookie season even, a good pct of his ints came from rollouts to the left.
I'm not gonna get back into it, tryna get hyped for the season but showing 4 throws don't mean much. I seen Gabbert hit Ceecil Shorts in stride for a long TD once, wouldn't say Gabbs had a knack for hitting deep balls tho.
For anyone who says, "Trevor struggles with accuracy when rolling to his left," is that in comparison to other right-handed QBs rolling to their left, or in comparison to Trevor rolling to his right?
My impression is that Trevor is surprisingly accurate rolling to his left, but I have no stats or analysis to back that up.

So wait. You’re saying a right-handed quarterback…any right-handed quarterback…isn’t as accurate while on the move to his left? Good God, what a startling revelation! I’m shocked! Shocked I tell you! Wow, you called than one Jocko.

I thought overall the depth showed more than anything. For what, 10+ years our depth was god awful. Be it coaching, talent acquisition, or what, but we didn't look terrible with the 2nd/3rd teams out there.
Not concerned with Trevor's INT
Our starting defense looked good, albeit against backups. Walker looked to get some good pressure from what I saw.
Rourke should be the backup over CJ. Really nothing CJ can do better based on what I saw besides just having more experience.
I didn't notice Antonio Johnson out there at all but I didn't watch too closely after the first half
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

Depends on what you are looking for - do you need a player with starting experience and can mentor your starter (CJ) or do you want a developmental prospect (Rourke)?
Neither one are breaking bank, so really the length of the deal is formality at best if you want to keep them a while.

We were getting cooked by that play all night. Vaughn was drawing their attention, and their QBs did well to take advantage of the LB's hesitancy.

This could be the best thing ever to happen to Etienne's career. Most coaches beat their star RB into the ground then dump them after their rookie contract expires. Since RBs 2nd contracts are limited, their best case scenario from a financial standpoint is to try to extend their careers as long as possible.
