This offense can get by with "dudes" in the meantime. I trust a Doug and Trevor led offense to find a successful game plan to win with who is available. Every roster in the league will be banged up to some degree by midseason.

Cam will play LT and Little will play LG (based on snaps we're seeing at practices and the DET game) I hope Cam can get his game back to a serviceable level by then - he looked bad vs DET

Only option is slide Little to LT and put a nobody at LG. I guess it's a lesser of two evils decision. (08-22-2023, 11:43 AM)NYC4jags Wrote:(08-22-2023, 11:35 AM)WYjagsfan Wrote: This is what I mean. Well it would be Bartch at guard and he's not a nobody. Like I said though this will only be any issue if the O-Line plays well the first 4 weeks. If they struggle it's a no brainer.

Cam has been horrible this preseason. If the oline is rolling after week 4 I don't think Doug makes a change and Cam would be our swing tackle

Your swing tackle needs to be able to play both tackle spots and that doesn't sound like Cam Robinson. I still think they should move on from him now and find a guy who can legit play either side if needed. Probably the best case if he stays and has to play would be to push Little to Right and let Cam step in to be average at Left, but I hate the idea of Little losing reps on the left. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

He's coming off of injury and unproven from a health perspective until we see him block a starting NFL DT, B. He's had limited NFL playing time prior to this and was "serviceable" during that span. Not very good, and occasionally bad. (5 NFL starts of meh performance) I know folks have high hopes for Ben Bartch, but assuming he's going to do any better than Shatley did last year is a stretch right now, and Shatley was bad last year. I'm not ready to call Bartch our savior at LG (08-23-2023, 10:30 AM)jaglou53 Wrote:(08-23-2023, 09:56 AM)NYC4jags Wrote: He actually kind-of is a nobody. I agree with you on Bartch. If I were the Jaguars, I'd sign Dalton Risner before the Bears get him. He is very reliable having missed only a few games during his career. No doubt he'd be an upgrade at guard and he has played tackle in the past. Hopefully they won't need him at tackle, but with Harrison's shoulder and Robinson's horrible performance last week it wouldn't hurt to have a potential fill-in at tackle like Risner. He wouldn't be cheap, but protecting the franchise quarterback should be top priority- slightly ahead of the questionable pass-rush.

Doug talked about Cam plying G, when has he every played Gaurd?

You have the wrong idea cemented in your head that he can just flip to the other side and be ok. He's barely average in the natural left side spot he's played his whole life. That you think he can just hop over and reverse all that technique and muscle memory is nothing but wishful thinking. Just like Doug has talked about Cam playing guard, just like Doug is playing Harrison at RT. Play them there until they prove otherwise. So if Doug puts Cam at RT or G you think he's setting himself up for failure there? It could be more of a risk playing the backup over a healthy Cam. |
