Bethard just does not seem to have the it factor. Maybe he is what Doug needs to run his offense as a backup, but I just don’t get why he is anointed number 2.

He's the #2 because he's VERY intelligent and is a great teammate. He has a mastery of the system, is a good therapist and sounding board for Trevor Lawrence. If (god forbid) Lawrence were to go down for the year, I think the game it happens Beathard would step in, but the week after and remainder of the season they'd give the keys to Rourke.

Whether you're #2 or #3 you're still a backup and not playing. I doubt Rourke cares which he is, but it definitely matters to Beathard so if it keeps him happy, and keeping Lawrence's buddy happy keeps Trevor himself happy... sure go for it.

This game has the 1999 62-7 vibe. Sure, not the same blowout or gravity of the game, but we clearly have the better roster depth. We are ROLLING!
