CBS tracker has us signing Bobby Miller (OT) from the Vikings cuts.

Not sure who he is or how good he is but looks like they are looking to pick up some players.

Jags signed him 2 weeks ago when they had some OL injuries

Thanks all. So the term "stashing" or "hiding" someone on the practice squad is only a figure of speech, which is actually contradictory to what is actually being done.  Got it.

It is a bit of a misnomer for sure. 

It works fine for guys that fly under the radar - but the modern coverage of camps and preseason has made it tougher for talent to remain unnoticed and then "stashed" effectively on practice squads. 

I'm sure there are coaches out there who limit preseason play of certain players so they can attempt to keep them off of other team's radar screens, but many other GMs have similar scouting reports on theses players to the team trying to keep them, so... they know which players on other practice squads are worth stealing.

This right here. The days of BLESTO or hiding cans of film are long gone, there's no secrets any more. There's a plethora of information out about every guy, no matter how small the school.

Gotta feel really bad for Miller. Despite being a questionable draft pick, you hate to see anybody get hurt. It does make Pederson's decision making process at the linebacker position. As far as the decision to be made at wide receiver, I think it's being made a bigger deal than it should be. If Ridley, Kirk, Zay and Agnew play at the level we expect, the 6th receiver (or 5th, if Washington is 6th) will hardly see the field other than on special teams. The Jags aren't cutting Washington even though Cooks, Harris and Williams have looked better at receiver than him. In my opinion, the deciding factor should be which young receiver has the highest ceiling. It wouldn't shock me if Zay Jones (or Kirk) become a salary cap casualty next season if Ridley is re=signed. Do they feel any one of these 3 has the ability to move into this spot without too much being lost on the field? If one of these guys clearly has the biggest upside, they should keep him over Tim Jones. If not, keep Jones due to his superiority on special teams.

Didn't he have a foot injury or surgery prior to the darft? On the bright side for him, getting hurt early ensures that he has ample time to get it repaired, recuperate and be ready for next season. This would have been catastrophic for his development had it been say week 6 or 7 when the injury happened. That would've likely kept him out of all offseason work. Hopefully he can bounce back.

I kinda agree that Tim has shown enough to stick on the roster, and I figure Harris will be the developmental size guy that sticks to the PS. Unfortunately, Cooks is odd man out, but he'll be on a roster somewhere else, at least for the short term. If he gets cut, I hope we sign him back to our PS; I think this time next year he's taking the place of Agnew or Zay as we attempt to care for the cap.

I haven't kept up to things this year as much as I have in the past. All the new weapons on offense are exciting, and I'm also happy to hear that Roy Robertson Harris and Duane Smoot are both going to be back.

For all you folks who like to hate on Tony Khan ( I will never understand this, he seems like a pretty smart dude with good intentions for the Jags and Jacksonville)
